Academics

For academic journal articles and other scholarly writing, especially for academics writing in

English as a second language, we look for the best and most suitably qualified reviewers. While

we often choose reviewers with some content knowledge, your writing will not be assessed on its

content, evidence base or structure. We help write your journal articles, submissions, science

projects, ethic reviews. Who doesn't want help to publish more?

You have enormous demands on your time: supervision, teaching loads, assembling external

research funding bids, commissioned projects, departmental responsibilities … and your own

research. Many academics find it helpful to work with us to ensure that they maximize their

chances of a high impact journal publication.

As a final quality control before submission, professional external reviewers can provide advice

that can provide many insights usually missed by authors who are intimately familiar with their

own projects, help re-write under-performing sections, respond to feedback from reviewers, and

take your writing to a new level.

Ben's Success Story

Here’s an experience of from Ben, a research academic working in New York:

“I worry about keeping my job. One of the challenges in working at a university is the ‘publish

or perish’ culture. On top of teaching and helping students, I really need to keep publishing –

journal articles and conferences mainly. So while it’s competitive, I really want to keep working

and growing. It’s simple. Tenure-track requires publications. That’s the price for job security.

It’s great that there are resources and people around to help and it can be just a matter of

reaching out and getting some help.”

When did you start working after your PhD?

“I started working in academia around five years ago. My PhD was in Information Systems and I

had a great adviser. I thought the PhD was hard. I enjoyed it, but I really wanted to get an

academic job. I thought after finishing my doctorate that it would be pretty straightforward. It

wasn’t.“

Why do you use Professor Write?

“I use it because I want to get on tenure-track. There’s lots of pressure to publish … as they say,

'publish or perish'. Producing more takes time though, I think using a professional editing and

proofreading service is pretty helpful for me actually.”

What are some of the things you use Professor Write for?

“It is great because when I need to submit a conference presentation or journal article, I have a

reliable and dependable service I can turn to. I am relieved that Professor Write is a service run

by academics for academics. I also like the ‘critical reviewer’ aspect to the service; getting an

independent perspective on my writing often draws attention to mistakes and writing weaknesses

I may have not picked up. In other words, it helps from not being too close to the topic.”
