Sunday March 16 th 2014 – 2 nd Sunday of Lent Reflecting on our Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan Core Direction #1 – PARISH LIFE Our parishes are spiritual homes where we meet one another to encounter Christ. Our plan calls on us to make our 225 parishes places of welcome and hospitality, both for those who are with us each week and those who return home after many years. We will prepare ourselves with care each week to celebrate the sacraments and encourage attentive and active participation from everyone. We will support our priests and deacons as they lead the way, and when asked to assist, we will respond. It’s important that we celebrate the many parishes already engaged in outreach ministries and programs that support the family, the domestic church. Pray for the Elect

On the first Sunday of Lent, all parishes offering RCIA celebrated the Rite of Election. The celebration of the Rite of Election marks the beginning of a period of final, more intense preparation for the Elect; those children, youth and adults preparing to receive initiation sacraments, Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist this Easter.

As this rite leads the Elect into a period of purification

and enlightenment, a period whose theme is repentance,

the Book of the Elect, which they signed, remains in the

church, in front of the statue of Mary throughout the

Lenten season as a reminder to the whole community

to pray for these and all the elect throughout the church.

The Rite of Election held during the 11:00 am Mass welcomed these children and adults as members of the Elect at our parish.

Let’s keep in prayer:

Fairoze Lalani, Abraham Biosah, Sarah Biosah,

Dear Parishioners: As Easter approaches plans are being made for the decoration of the church, Eucharistic chapel, and

parish hall. An offering may be made towards the flowers and decorations that will adorn our church in memory of our loved ones. Parishioners interested in making an offering are asked to complete and return the form to the parish office or drop it in the collection basket in a sealed envelope. Your name and the name of your loved one will be published in the bulletin on Palm Sunday.

All memorials should be in by APRIL 7.

Working wonders in our livelihoods…

Andrew attended counselling at Catholic Family Services in Simcoe

at the suggestion of his employer. He was experiencing a considerable

amount of conflict at work which was affecting his job performance.

Andrew realized that if he didn’t get some help he was at risk of losing

his job. Through counselling he learned more positive ways of

interacting as well as some healthy stress management skills. Today

Andrew has fewer conflicts at work and has learned how to separate

his work and home life. He appreciated the help that Catholic Family

Services provided to him when he needed it most. Last year, ShareLife

-supported Family Service agencies provided family counselling to over

5,100 people in the Greater Toronto Area
