Meet Jim & Melody Bell

Our new pastor, Jim Bell, and his wife, Melody, are excited to be in Rocky Mount and at First United Methodist Church. Since our church was Jim’s first appointment as an associate pastor straight out of divinity school, it is exciting to have him return all these years later as lead pastor. There are going to be several opportunities in the weeks ahead for everyone to spend time in fellowship with the Bells. Whether it is to start, re-kindle or strengthen your relationship with them, you are invited to sign up for one of the “Meet & Greet” events taking place.

Members of the congregation have offered to host these “Meet & Greet” events in their homes, and we encourage everyone to sign up for one of these events. Registration sheets will be in the lobby of the church on Sundays, or you can call the church office.

Youth to Deliver Devotion at MMCB!

The youth who traveled to Costa Rica on the mission trip will deliver the devotion at the Monday Morning Community Breakfast August 11 at 6:45 a.m. in the fellowship hall. You are invited to join us for a morning of prayer, praise, laughter and, of course, a delicious break-fast. Make plans to experience this outstanding community ministry!

The Church Hears God’s Word

Epistle Lesson Ephesians 4:1-16

Anthem O Day of Peace Scottish tune, Hal Hopson, arr.

O day of peace that dimly shines through all our hopes and prayers and dreams, Guide us to justice, truth and love, delivered from our selfish schemes. May swords of hate fall from our hands, our hearts from envy find release, Till by God's grace our warring world shall see Christ's promised reign of peace.

Then shall the wolf dwell with the lamb, nor shall the fierce devour the small; As beasts and cattle calmly graze, a little child shall lead them all. Then enemies shall learn to love, all creatures find their true accord. The hope of peace shall be fulfilled, for all the earth shall know the Lord.
