Jesaja 58: 6-8: “Is dit nie die vas wat Ek verkies nie dat julle losmaak die bande van

goddeloosheid; is dit nie dat jy jou brood breek vir hom wat honger het, en ellendi-

ges swerwelinge in jou huis inbring nie? As jy iemand sien wat naak is dat jy hom

klee en jou vir jou eie vlees nie verberg nie? Dan sal jou lig deurbreek soos die dage-

raad en jou genesing skielik uitspruit, en jou geregtigheid sal voor jou uitgaan, die

heerlikheid van die Here jou agterhoede wees.”

Helen Keller, die dame wat doof en blind was het geskryf :

“I am only one, but still I am one; I cannot do everything but still I can do something;

I will not refuse to do something I can do.”

Jesus het die weduwee se klein bedraggie raakgesien want eintlik is dit die gesindheid

waarmee ons dinge doen vir ons medemens, ons familie en so ook vir God, wat tel. Hy

kyk diep in ons harte - sonder liefde help al die geld in die wêreld niks; al die groot ka-

tedrale leeg en leweloos. Sy Gees en Liefde maak alles kosbaar en waardevol. Nog ‘n

skrif waarheid is: “Net wat jy saai sal jy maai!” Kom ons saai liefde, vriendelikheid,

genade, vergifnis, sodat ons ‘n goeie oes kan maai. En die regte eintlike oes kom een-

dag as Jesus kom “en sy loon is by Hom.” Ons wil net weereens dankie se aan almal

wat so getrou bid , help en gee. Die gereelde bydraes maak dit moontlik om aan te

gaan.

Isaiah 58:6-8: “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen, to loose the chains of in-

justice? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wan-

derer with shelter when you see the naked, to clothe him and not to turn away from

your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your

healing will quickly appear. Then you righteousness will go before you, and the glory

of the Lord will be your rearguard.”

Jesus mentioned the widow’s small contribution- because what really matters is our

attitude... the attitude of the heart.. The attitude with what we do something for fam-

ily, friends or neighbours is what counts in the eyes of God. Without love nothing

really counts in the long term. All the riches, the large cathedrals... without the Love

of God will just pass away. Only His Holy Spirit and Love makes all things precious and

valuable. Another Bible truth is: “What you sow you shall reap.” Let us sow love, kind-

ness, grace, forgiveness friendliness...so that we can reap a good harvest in this life

and also in the next life. The great harvest is still coming, when Jesus comes and His

reward is with Him. A heartfelt thank you to all the prayers, givers and helpers with-

out whom we would not be able to do the work.
