Overview and Guidelines

Why a Charter on Internal Mobility ?

• Like we have legislation to regulate the labour market, we need some rules/guidance to regulate the internal job marketto regulate the internal job market.

• ClarityClarity about mobility ground rules for employees will will stimulate internal mobilitystimulate internal mobility. Some people may fear a negative reaction from their current management when applying for another job.

• These ground rules help to manage expectationsmanage expectations for managers and employees, e.g. notice period.

Internal Mobility charter: the 5 basic rules

1. Line managers are responsible for facilitating the internal mobility of their direct reports, as part of the employee’s career development within Alstom.

2. Employees should have held their current position for a minimum of two years before becoming eligible for an internal move.

3. The internal mobility process is managed in full transparency with current line manager and HR manager, and open positions are posted on Jobs Online

4. Internal candidates follow the same selection process, and are preferred over external candidates - all other factors being equal.

5. Selected candidates will be made available to start in their new role within a maximum of 3 months after final decision.
