Packing kits of educational materials and other items to

be sent to Canadian kids in the remote communities on Canada’s west coast, is the idea behind the By Kids for Kids project organized by Lutheran Laymen’s League of Canada.

Reaching kids in remote B.C.via “BK4K” project

Sharon McKie and Judy Dalcourt check out the By Kids for Kids pack bags.

The project provides a hands-on mission activity for kids in congregations, Sunday Schools, schools and VBSs. They are invited to fill special bags provided by LLL Canada which are sent to the BC Mission Boat for distribution.

If your congregation has not yet received its promotional materials or you need more information e-mail Sharon ([email protected]) at Lutheran Laymen’s League of Canada or phone 1-800-555-6236.

James Deliscar translates questions from Haitian Creole for Suzanne.

Wh e n S u z a n n e White (Liv ing

Faith Lutheran Church, Orangeville, Ontario) attended an Equipping to Share (EtS) workshop and presenter training session at Messiah Lutheran Church, Waterloo, Ont. in January 2006, little did she know what God had planned for her.

After her training she conducted several EtS workshops in the East District on behalf of Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) but this summer as she prepared to visit Haiti for her second short-term mission trip, Suzanne was asked to do some training of young adults there. Needing a French version of the EtS program and not having time to translate it, she contacted LLL Canada and they obtained a French version of Equipping The Saints (the international version of EtS) from their sister LHM office in Cameroon.

people are expected to attend. She will also take some other

LHM materials printed in French, including some Advent devotion booklets.

“It is a privilege to equip people like Suzanne who in turn equip others to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ” commented Stephen Klinck, director of LHM in Canada. “Having LHM offices around the world working in different languages and cultures gives us access to a wide assortment of outreach tools.”

Haitian youth sing a welcome for Suzanne.

“Having Equipping to Share in French was a blessing in two ways” says White, “firstly, I was able to deliver the presentation orally in French myself and speak directly to the youths, and secondly, I was able to leave a full printed set of the documents with the youth association president, for the youth to review at their convenience.”

Suzanne expects to do another EtS training session in Haiti in December when more than 300

“Assisting synod in word and deed” was the reason

the founders of the Lutheran Laymen’s League (LLL) formed the organization in 1917. Our interest in the Synod extends to its seminaries and those who are being prepared for the ministry.

To remind first-year seminary students of this, representatives of the LLL recently visited the seminaries to present them with a book. In Edmonton, Bill Day and Garry Ritter gave students the gift volumes while in St. Catharines Stephen Klinck made the presentation. “I hope that when you get into the parish, you will look for the men and women of the LLL” Klinck told the students, “they share your passion for telling others about our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.”

More than 1,100 people heard Rev. Ken Klaus, speaker on The Lutheran Hour at two Lutheran Hour celebration rallies in Canada. The first was in Stony Plain, Alta. on September 21, the second was in and Stratford, Ont. on September 27. Lutheran Church–Canada made a video of Rev. Klaus’ Stony Plain message available on-line at www.lutheranhour.ca.
