Welcome Mar Mac Farms is a 4th generation family farm, where we make our living from the cattle business. The whole family is involved in the feeding, breeding and marketing of our cattle and we all take pride in producing top quality genetics. We also understand the importance of customer service and honest relations with our valued customers and friends in the livestock industry.

Brett has come home full time to the farm and along with farming runs a custom A.I. business in the summer. Melissa has moved back to Manitoba and started her own graphic and web designs business, Prairie Pistol Designs. Both of the children are very involved and interested in the beef industry.

It is an exciting time to be in the livestock business. This past fall, we seen a lot of new younger faces becoming involved and prices are remaining high. Now is the time to trade in your old bull for top dollar and invest in some fresh new genetics. It has been proven that top quality genetics are worth 5 to 10 cents more at the auction mart.

This year, we have an exciting line up of bulls. In the Red Angus, we have Ribeye sons that pass extra length and thickness throughout. You will also see the sons of 71W who will be our calving ease specialist. Our Black Angus bulls are a very strong throughout. We are going through a growing stage in the Black Angus as we had a number of heifer calves. Our Simmental bulls are equally as strong with some outcross genetics, that have great hair coats and length of body. Every year we try to improve the offering for our customers and we work hard to achieve this goal. This year’s bulls may be the best total group ever.

Our guest consignors are Downhill Simmentals (Everett Olson) and Perkin Land and Cattle (Darryl and Tanya Perkin and Family). Downhill Simmental’s bulls have been fed with our bulls all winter.

As always our bulls have been raised with no creep fed, their weaning weights are produced by their mother’s milk. These bulls have been developed on a home grown ration that will enhance longevity. You may find fatter bulls at other sales, but these bulls are fed to last. I spoke to a couple of customers at Ag Days who have our bulls working for them, these two individuals both had one of our bulls that was eight years old and still sound.

The mothers of these bulls are sound practical cows. Our cows have to maintain their condition on swath grazing and a roughage ration, they do not get any grain. They also have to calve and nurse with no assistance, and then rebreed or they do not stay here.

Please feel free to come and view the bulls at any time prior to the sale, we would be honored to have you inspect the bulls and their mothers. If you cannot attend the sale but are interested in our program, we would be happy to help you select a sire for your operation through our sight unseen purchase program or talk to any of the sale staff and they would be happy to assist you. Some things are hard to replace and Ribeye 346U is just that. We are so impressed by the docility, free moving, structurally sound, thick topped and stout individual Ribeye is. Two lead off bulls that you will have to drive many miles to see the depth of quality in a Red Angus sire. We sold a half interest in Reba 12S to Graham Red Angus in Ontario and we have retained her in our herd and are flushing her. We wanted to get some full sibs to Reba 121W and so far two bulls. They are just long bodied, stylish thick made bulls that every time you enter the pen they stick out. If you are using the tool of EPD’s check these out. The 50T bull sold to Ken and Rebecca Mackenzie at Red Roundup but we collected some semen for our herd and now is for sale on the open market. 50T leaves tight, neat udders with lots of suspension , low birth weights and easy fleshing cattle. Calving Ease - percentage of unassisted births with the more positive number indicating greater calving ease.

Birth Weight - the birth eight of a bulls progeny when compared to the breed average, in pounds.

Weaning Weight - the adjusted weaning weight of a bulls progeny when compared to the breed average, in pounds.

Yearling Weight - the adjusted weaning weight of a bulls progeny when compared to the breed average, in pounds.

Milk - a measure of amount of pre weaning performance gained by calves which can be attributed to the milking ability of a bull’s daughters. The EPD is expressed in pounds of calf.
