Dear Cattlemen,

We would like to invite you to our third annual bull sale in Hillsboro on Monday, March 16. The sale will be held at the Union Stock Yards and will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Our breeding philosophy is fairly straightforward. We strive to breed cattle that excel in both their genetic and phenotypic makeup. While we work hard to make sure our cattle read well and are pleasing to the eye, we understand that our customers have priorities as well. Commercial cattlemen need bulls that sire cattle that are problem-free and can achieve competitive prices at feeder calf sales. We believe this set of bulls provides an excellent balance of economically-important traits such as calving ease, growth, maternal, and carcass traits.

We are offering 45 serviceable-aged Angus and Simmental-Angus bulls in this sale. They include spring yearlings, fall 18 month olds, and two-year-olds. They all sell complete with EPD’s, performance data, breeding soundness examinations, and have been tested nega-tive for persistent BVD. The Maplecrest herd also maintains Certified and Accredited status for Tuberculosis and Brucellosis.

2014 will be remembered for many years as the beef industry experienced historically high prices for all classes of cattle. The current beef supply and demand situation should continue to create a positive environment for the cow-calf producer for several years. Now is the time to produce feeder calves with extra earning potential. Today’s market rewards the producer for every live calf, extra pounds of weaning and yearling weight, and improved carcass merit. The Angus and Simmental-Angus bulls selling represent some of the leading genetics that each breed has to offer. These bulls offer you several options to help you reach your production and profit goals.

This bull has been a favorite of ours since birth. He is a unique combination of exceptional phenotype, noteworthy pedigree, and very balanced EPD’s that should be attractive to any breeder. He is sired by the popular Select Sires member and Maplecrest senior herd sire Con-nealy Confidence out of a maternal sister to the popular sire of champions SCC First-N-Goal GAF 114. J3046 has had a very successful show career in 2014 as he was named Grand Champion Bull at the Ohio Angus Preview and Jr. Angus Preview Show, Grand Champion Bull at Eastern Regional Jr. Show, Reserve Grand Champion Bull at the Ohio State Fair, and Reserve Grand Champion Bull at the Mid-Atlantic Jr. Angus Classic.
