Eighth Sunday
in Ordinary Time
No one can serve
two masters.
Today’s Gospel reminds us that we cannot
serve both God and mammon. This means
we must choose either to serve our own self-
ish desires, or choose to serve God and
strive to love Him above all things. Only one
of these choices provides an inexhaustible
treasure in Heaven. Given this, we must seek
in prayer the grace needed to choose wisely.

150TH PARISH ANNIVERSARY

begin a year-long celebration
of 150 years.
This is truly a milestone
for our Parish!
To organize a celebration worthy
of this special anniversary, four
Committees have now been formed:
LITURGICAL/SPIRITUAL, SOCIAL,
PUBLIC RELATIONS AND FINANCIAL.
Those interested in becoming part
of any committee, please call the
Rectory during regular office hours.

Important Old Church News
We have a serious roofing problem in our
Old Church. The good news: it isn’t on the
outside and no water or other damage is in-
volved. The inside roof, however, has severe
cracking that needs immediate repair to
avoid any additional internal problems.
We are already talking to people who do this
work and are seeking bids to repair our Old
Church inside roof as economically as possi-
ble, and we hope to start this work soon.
Sadly, this means we must close our Old
Church, effective immediately, until the in-
side roof is in perfect shape. Thank you for
your patience in this important matter.
Please Note: The Old Church is closed
until roofing repairs have been made!

REFLECTIONS FOR THE FIRST DAYS OF LENT
Ash Wednesday, March 1: Prayer
“Therefore, repent and return, so that your sins may
be wiped away, in order that time of refreshing may
come from the presence of the Lord.” Acts 3:19
Pray that you will open your heart to the graces God
wants to give you this Season of Lent.
Thursday, March 2: Almsgiving
“You need patience to do God’s Will and receive what
He has promised.” Hebrews 10:36
Be patient in the little things. Let there be no limit to
your forbearance.
Friday, March 3: Fasting
“This, rather, is the fasting that I wish: releasing those
bound unjustly, untying the thongs of the yoke; setting
free the oppressed, breaking every yoke.” Isaiah 58:6
Reach out today to someone on the fringes at work, in
your family, your neighborhood. Do not be scornful
or look down on anyone who doesn’t fit your defini-
tion of acceptable.
Saturday, March 4: Prayer
“...then she took some of the fruit and ate it.” Genesis
3:6
Pray for those who wish to join our Church and will
