MANNA CANNED FOOD COLLECTION
Every month, generous parishioners at St. Max sponsor a food drive for local charities, helping to stock the emergency food cupboards in our area. May’s drive will be in conjunction with the yearly Manna Canned Food Collection of the Archdiocese. Food will still go to our local charity, at St. Agnes Day Room.
Many struggling families and individuals turn to the emergency food cupboards for support during times of crisis. Their lives are blessed by the generosity of the faithful of our parish. Items in greatest need are beef stew, tuna fish, fruit, vegetables, pasta, soups and baked beans. Manna Bags will be distributed at all of our Masses on the weekend of April 28-29, 2018. Kindly return your filled Manna Bags on May 5th & 6th, 2018 and they will be taken to the St. Agnes Day Room. We thank you for your generosity.
Jesus, many times throughout Your life You fed hungry people and You called others to help. You called the young child with the loaves and fishes to share his gifts. You call each one of us today. Open our eyes to see the needs of others. Open our hearts to hear Your call to share. Open our hearts to welcome all people to the table of love. Amen.
PARISH MARIAN CELEBRATION
SUNDAY, MAY 13, 2018 FOLLOWING THE 10:30 MASS
Our May Procession this year will occur at the end of our 10:30 AM Mass on Sunday May 13, 2018. The closing hymn will be a Marian hymn as the Knights of
Columbus and our First Communicants lead the procession from Mass to the statue of Mary outside the church. We will then crown Mary and pray a decade of the Rosary (5th decade of the Glorious Mysteries—Mary is Crowned Queen of Heaven.) Let us remember the powerful intercession of Mary, our Mother, especially during the month of May.
Basics of the Faith: Basics of the Faith is an ongoing monthly series dealing with basic doctrines of the Catholic Church.
Our next session will be Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 8:45 to 10:15 am in the Maximilian Room. The topic will be Development of Angels in the Christian Tradition. It will include a brief video, as well as information from the Catechism of the Catholic Church and other sources.Coffee, tea, and cake will be provided. On Thursday evening, May 3rd, grades 1 - 5 presented their Genius Hour projects to parents and friends. Genius hour is class time set aside for students to dig deeper into an area that interests them. The students research and present a topic of their choice. This project sparks curiosity, encourages lifelong learning, imagination, self-awareness and adaptability. The 8th Grade students presented an International display in the MPR with information, food and tradi-tional dress of numerous countries around the world. Bucket Drumming, Chess Club and Irish Dancing also showcased their talents!

DON’T COME EMPTY HANDED!
We are so very grateful to the parishioners of St. Maximilian Kolbe who faithfully bring donations of non-food items for the Community Pantry offered through Act in Faith of West Chester. Weekly donations from Mass participants can continue to be left in the red bin marked “Families in Action” inside the front door of the church. School and PREP students can continue to bring donations to the “Kids in Action” bin in the Copy Room at the school. For the month of May we are collecting: FAMILY SIZED TOOTHPASTE.
We would like to take this time to thank everyone who has made a gift in the past to the Catholic Charities Appeal. The Catholic Charities Appeal is a time for our Parish to come together to extend our love, generosity, and concern to those who need it most. Your support will Give Hope to All we serve in our area through education, food, shelter, and medical assistance. For those who have not yet contributed to the Appeal, I ask that you prayerfully consider showing your support to this great call for action. Taking care of those in need is one of the most important things we can do as Catholics, and it is important that together, we, as a community, reach the needed $12.5 million goal.
