Raising the last 5%The Nature Conservancy of Canada is
fundraising for the final 5% of fundsneeded to protect over 1300 acres of na-tive grassland in the Nicola Valley. The$3.4 million conservation project will en-sure that habitat for migratory birds, raregrassland plants and larger mammals,such as moose and mule deer, remainsintact and undeveloped. The national,non-profit land trust is aiming to com-plete this project this summer.
The parcel of land is a portion ofNapier Lake Ranch, one of BC's oldestranches, owned by Agnes Jackson andher late husband Roy since the 1970s. Theranch is strategically located along a fly-way for many species of birds. It connectsto other conservation properties to thenorth & south across the Douglas Plateau.
The Nature Conservancy of Canadaencourages sustainable recreational useof its properties, while respecting theirnatural state. Napier Lake Ranch will beits 100th project in BC.
