Notes from the Principal

CE Jacobson - Rush City March 2019 - Wrap Up

Hello Families!

I wanted to share more information on a few things:

Morning Choices are now only breakfast or outside. We had to make the change be-

cause there are not enough morning paraprofessionals to cover both indoor and outdoor

choices for students. We want everyone safe and making great choices that are support-

ed by staff. We are working on developing a plan to allow for selected -morning-student

assistants to resume their duties. Research supports students getting as much activity

in their day as possible and the sunshine (finally!) will do everyone some good!

Minnesota Comprehensive testing will take place in April. We have the specifics for

each grade on our website. At Jacobson we want students to feel successful and accom-

plished as long as they try their personal best. Making sure that students are well rest-

ed and have healthy meals is always beneficial to learning. MCA tests measure read-

ing, math, and science. They are a one-day snapshot of how our school is doing and are

used by the Minnesota Department of Education to monitor school systems state wide.

Having measures using common data is important. We do use the data to measure the

success of our core instruction. MCA testing should not be a stressful event. It is an

exciting opportunity to see a student’s growth throughout the year! Positive encourage-

ment is key. Give your student a pep-talk about how amazing they can be!

We truly enjoyed seeing everyone at conferences. It is so fun to see the students’ faces

filled with pride over their accomplishments. The teachers do such an amazing job pre-

paring for and sharing with families. Our students and families are the best!
