Music Magazine Contents Page Analysis

TextThe ‘Hip Hop’ logo has been aligned on the right hand corner of the page, it is outlined in red and is not very clear. The headings of each of the contents is in bold and in capital letters, which shows what the magazine features and is also emphasised. Also there is a box of credits on the right hand side of the page which feature the credits of who and how the magazine is produced.

LayoutThere is no text to show us that this is the contents page however due to the layout we know this is a contents page. It is a simple layout with boxes in which the text has been placed into that indicate what is featured inside the magazine. The images have also been placed away from each other so that the reader is bake to look at the whole page and not only one section where the images have been placed.

ColourThe colour scheme of the contents page is not the conventional colour scheme of the whole magazine and does not match the front cover whereas most contents pages do. The main colours on the contents page are Red and Black with a white background and a bit of yellow to highlight the page numbers.

ImageThere are only two main images on the contents page. The image in the bottom left hand corner is of the artist who is also featured in the double spread page and therefore it would be suitable to feature him on the contents page as well. The other image is of another artist ‘Kandi Buruss’ who has a page featured on her as well, therefore there is a image to promote her and make the reader look at her page. Both of the images are unedited.

TextThe text on the contents page is minimal and only has shown what is featured inside the magazine. As this is a special edition they have used various sections to divide the growth and experiences of the artist. The headings are in bold and there is brief depiction of the section which the pages will feature,

ColourThere is no particular colour scheme on the contents page, the heading is in the conventional red colour and the other text is in a white colour. These are the conventional Rolling Stone colours. However the background of the contents page is of the main artists and its unedited image, therefore the whole image acts as the base of the page.

LayoutThe layout of the contents page is quite unusual. The text is aligned on the right hand side of the page and the image dominates the whole page. This is done purposefully as it is a special edition magazine so the artist who dominates the image would also attract the audience to look at the page and therefore read the contents on the contents page.

ImageThe main image used on the contents page also acts as a background image for the contents page. It is unedited and of a natural pose taken presumably from a concert in which the artist have performed in. Also the image may relate to the double spread page in the magazine and therefore such a big image is used to attract the audience into looking inside the magazine and also look at the contents page.
