SRC Year 5 EventsStudent Representative Councils (SRC) work to represent students’ interests and needs in a variety of ways. They take action to bring about positive changes to students and the whole school community.

The SRC should enable students to have input on important school issues, such as rules and administration, curriculum, student wellbeing and buildings and grounds.

During this term, our Year 5 students will be involved in SRC Selection. This week, all Year 5 students attended a Leadership Day to build their leadership knowledge and skills. Interested Year 5 students also watched and participated in an SRC meeting. On Tuesday 5 November, interested students will obtain and complete a SRC Self Nomination Form, which requires them to get a parent signature and the signature of another student who will ratify their nomination. Students have two days to complete and return the self-nomination forms to Mr Rob Kesseler.

We look forward to supporting our Year 5 students who are aspiring to be elected for SRC leadership roles in 2020 throughout the process.

Tell Them from Me SurveyThank you to the parents who completed the Tell Them from Me Survey. Analysis of the feedback to the school will be completed, used to inform the 2020 school plan and communicated to parents in the 2019 Annual School Report.

Selective High Schools 2020Applications for students in Year 5 who wish to apply for a Selective High School (Year 7) in 2021 are now open. Applications close on Monday 11 November and must be completed online at http://education.nsw.gov.au/shs-oc. Late applications will not be accepted. An Intention to Apply letter has been sent home to all Year 5 students providing further information.

Important Term 4 DatesPlease note the following dates in your diary. Further information about these events will be distributed closer to the event.

Road SafetyPlease be considerate and respectful to drivers around the school. If you would like to communicate to another driver, please use positive and respectful language at all times.

Kindergarten News Stage 1 News (Years 1 & 2)

Miss S. Cooper - KC Class Teacher

We are all very excited about the Halloween Carnival this Thursday.

KC had a lot of fun making posters for our Hotdog and Sushi stalls.

We drew and painted hotdogs and fish-shaped soy sauce bottles. We had our photo taken for the poster too, with sushi rolls covering our eyes and mouth. They weren’t real sushi rolls – they were socks!!

FUN FACT: Did you know that the plastic tail on the end of the soy sauce containers are designed to spread wasabi on your sushi?

Don’t fill up on sweets and lollies - come and have dinner at our stall in Kindyland instead!

2V had the pleasure of spending some time with Healthy Harold this term, learning all about the human body. We went on an adventure called ‘All Systems Go’, in a futuristic machine called ‘The Venture’. We travelled through the different systems of the body and explored how it worked. It was fascinating!

We looked at factors that influence the function of our body systems, the impact food choices have on our health and energy levels, ways to manage peer pressure and the role our brain, heart, lungs and kidneys play in our bodies.

Did you know that Healthy Harold has been visiting schools for 40 years? Did he visit anyone else in your family?

Miss B. Saltmarsh - 3S Class Teacher

Stage 2 News (Years 3 & 4)Congratulations to all the students on your performances in the Stage 2 Musical. Everybody did an amazing job and worked really hard. Thank you to all the parents who attended the concerts to support our Stage 2 students for 2019!

In Week 2, 5N met with their KM buddies and completed ‘Roll to Create a Creature Game’. In this activity, buddies took turns rolling a dice and that number corresponded to which type of body, eyes, mouth, arms, legs and extras (spikes, tail, horns etc.) that they would draw their creature with. They then coloured their creatures in and gave them names. In preparation for KM’s writing lesson about their creature, 5N assisted their buddies with thinking of adjectives to describe their creature. The next day, 5N were tasked with figuring out how many possible outcomes of creatures there could be. As you can see from the pictures below, 5N and KM had great fun together!

P&C NewsThe countdown is nearly ending for the school’s first Halloween Carnival on a school day. The P&C is very excited to be hosting this event, the first of its kind for Neutral Bay Public. It is going to be a fun-filled day with a variety of amusement rides for young and older children, petting zoo, food stalls, gift and toy stalls, flashmob, disco and many more attractions.

Just a reminder that the road will be closed from noon tomorrow, so please do not park on Bydown Street. Drop off in the mornings will be as usual, but please pick up your children on foot on Bydown Street or arrange for pick up on other surrounding streets. Please be familiar with our Halloween Carnival Risk Assessment Plan and Carnival Map (on the following page).

Those who have missed out on Flexischools to purchase their wristbands and tokens, these will be available for purchase on the day at $35 per wristband and $5 per token.

Halloween Carnival StallsPlease also check your class volunteer roster link to help out at your stall. There are some shifts needing filling if you can volunteer an hour of your time for your class stall.

Please remember for all PSSA students, no hot food is to be ordered. Sandwiches (not toasties), and sushi are best. Please also select **PSSA** in Flexischools so we can have these prepared earlier than usual, to ensure your child is fed on time.

May we remind all volunteers to have your hair tied back, and closed-toe shoes (no thongs or open-toe sandals). Also, please remember to sign in at the office and receive your visitors lanyard before arriving at the canteen.
