RidgecrestCamps.com CHIPPEWA - Margaret Coyle I am a junior, Elementary Education major at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. I am really looking forward to adventures through the creek, secret missions, hanging out on the lake, listening to everyone worshipping in chapel, and just hanging out with our awesome Chippewas! I’m excited to be able to share this amazing experience with our rock star Crestridge staff praising our God and pouring into our campers! One of my favorite memories was pulling up to the Bear Trap with my dad for lifeguard training, scared out of my mind, and immediately feeling loved and welcomed by awesome staff who had dropped everything to come meet me! I love all my memories of camp, but eating meals with my Chippewas in the dining hall was always fun. Teaching a seven-year-old to stand up on their chair and sing their heart out is just priceless. CHEYENNE - Sallie Forrester I am a Psychology major at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. is is my junior year. I am looking forward to so much-- seeing old friends, meeting new ones, hanging out with ALL of those awesome Cheyennes, campfire night, Night of Chaos, singing in the dining hall, Crestridge Delight, CP night, and of course spending the whole summer studying God’s Word and learning how to love Him and each other better! While I genuinely love every memory I have from camp, I think the one that stands out the most to me happened last summer. I was a counselor in the Cherokee Village, and our staff was having a gathering on the pavilion while our campers were in the chapel worshipping and praising our Savior. As I gazed at the stars while those sweet voices filled the air, I was reminded what a blessing it is to be a part of Camp Crestridge and to see the Lord working in so many ways during the short span of a summer. CHEROKEE - Maddie Ayers I am currently a sophomore, studying Health Sciences at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. I’m most looking forward to seeing campers and staffers dancing and hugging and reuniting on the first day of camp. It never gets old seeing the first car drive up the hill and the campers leaning out of the windows with huge smiles! That moment is one of the highest levels of energy and excitement all summer!! My favorite camp memory happened two summers ago. The magnificent glitter fairy visited Chickasaw hill in the middle of the night and all the Chickasaw 6 campers woke up with glitter nail polish on their toe nails. They were so excited; it was the best thing ever! CHICKASAW - Sara Hunt I go to the University of Central Florida, located in Orlando, Florida (GO KNIGHTS)! My major is in Communication Sciences & Disorders, studying to be a Speech Language Pathologist. I graduate with a bachelor’s degree in May and am applying for a master’s program for the fall. I am SO looking forward to being surrounded by awesome staff and sweet campers!! It is going to be an awesome summer and I can’t wait to see how God will impact each of our lives at Camp Crestridge! ere have been so many good memories made at Camp!!! ey are combined memories of sharing God’s love, making new friendships/sisters and just being silly and seeing the campers have loads of FUN! CHOCTAW - Maddie Michaud I am currently taking time off of school, but have completed my sophomore year at Charleston Southern. Right now I am living in Greenville, SC working as a makeup artist with Bare Minerals. I am looking forward to seeing familiar faces of past campers, and meeting the precious faces of new campers. I absolutely can’t wait to see God work in and through each and every one of the campers AND staff this summer. Choosing one moment that sticks out to me is impossible. Camp has so many amazing moments each day that you are there, from feeling the presence of God during chapel to laughing until you cry at the silliest things. Each moment makes the whole camp experience what it is. This past fall, we hosted our first ever Family Camp and Mother & Daughter Camp! Each event presented awesome new opportunities for families to experience camp together! Our events were attended by campers who ranged in age from 1 to 90. These events are filling up for this fall, so sign up TODAY! Mother & Daughter Camp will be Aug 22-24 and Family Camp will be over Labor Day Weekend, Aug 29 – Sept 1. Here’s a current list of staff that will be returning this summer.

We are excited to announce our theme for this coming summer is “Come. See. Live.” We are going to take a look at the Gospel and the life of Jesus Christ and see how Christ’s three-fold invitation was constantly one that followed a sequence of coming, seeing and living. Jesus was relational and invited people into His life, because He wanted to get to know them, and He wanted them to get to know Him!

He invited them to come alongside Him, follow Him, and see who He was. And when they had seen who He was, He invited them to live a new life. He invited them to leave their old life and follow Him in a new and adventurous life! Christ extends that same invitation to us today and we are excited to take a look at that and walk through the life of Christ this summer at camp!

RETURNING STAFF FOR 2014

60 years! Know anyone that was there that first summer? Or the 10th? The 25th? The 59th? Crestridge has been changing the lives of girls and young women since 1955. Lots has changed since that first year … new buildings, new cabins, new skills … but Crestridge is still reminding every camper that drives through the gates to reach for the stars!

On July 4 and 5th, join your Crestridge friends and family for two days of “camp” in celebration of Crestridge’s 60th year. We’ll worship together, fellowship together and play together … there might even be a sock war!

And, in honor of the 60th summer, the Crestridge Alumnae Association wants to make a significant contribution to our Scholarship Endowment, which provides funds each summer for girls who might otherwise not be able to attend camp.

A contribution to the endowment is a permanent investment in girls who will attend Crestridge for years to come.

Funds contributed to the endowment are invested, and the interest from those funds is used for annual scholarships.

As you make plans to attend the reunion, consider a gift to the Scholarship Endowment in appreciation for what camp has meant to you or your family.

You can contribute to the endowment fund in several ways: make a donation to the general fund, contribute to a named fund (current funds available upon request), or create your own fund in honor or memory of someone important to you.

Donations can be mailed to Camp Crestridge Alumnae & Friends, PO BOX 22038, Lexington, KY, 40533-2038 or via paypal from our web site: www.crestridgealumnae.com

In 2012, Camp Ridgecrest camper, Will NeSmith, suffered a spontaneous brain hemorrhage. He spent 3 weeks in a coma and 2 months in the hospital. Since then, Will has been in physical, occupational, and speech therapy to rehabilitate his brain and body from the damage. The WillPower 5k was founded to celebrate his survival, fund his ongoing rehabilitation and raise money for Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) – the genetic condition that led to Will’s brain bleed. The WillPower 5k will begin at 7:30AM on April 5th. We’d love to have our Camp family come support Will and his family as he recovers. To find out more about Will’s story and to register, visit www.willpower5k.com.
