Dear Parents & Caregivers
Farewell and Welcome
Last week we farewelled our popular, energetic (part-time)
Year 3 teacher, Mrs Sarah Middleton. Sarah had a lovely final
day in the classroom with her class, and a class party.
I would like to thank all the parents, students and Mrs Howard
for their kindness. We wish the Middleton family every
blessing as they look forward to welcoming their third child!
We also welcomed, on the same day, Sue Prideaux to the staff
who will be teaching Year 3, Year 2 and Years 9/10 Visual Art.
Sue joins us from Golden Grove Lutheran School and church
fellowship and this week is her introduction to a new
challenge in her career. Please welcome Sue to Mid North CC
and Port Pirie. Look out for a short bio in the next Newsletter.
Our College is Growing!
We also welcomed some new students to MNCC this week, Kayla and Keiran Wilton.
There is a special welcome back to Sophia Veluswamy, as the family is back from the
USA for a few months, due to the impact of the Corona Virus in that country.
We have seen growth for our College over the past few extraordinary months,
especially in our Years 1/2 Class. Therefore, we have decided to have the class work in
two separate year levels for our English/Maths lessons each day. You will find our Year
2s in Room P2 with Mrs Prideaux each morning.
After Hours School Sport is coming back!
This Wednesday after school saw the long-awaited return of Soccer training for
our keen students. This runs between 3.15pm and 4.15pm. If very wet weather or
dangerous ground conditions ever forces a cancellation, parents will receive a
text message soon after midday on that Wednesday. Our Facebook page will also
be updated at that time. Hopefully this will not happen this year! Return dates for
matches will be advised shortly.
COVID-19 Restriction Update.
While our Chapel Services are still on hold, we are gradually returning most activities
back to their usual routines. Please ensure that any students who are unwell stay
at home and use good hygiene routines. As the weather means we are inside more
frequently, this is very important. We are following the same pattern for staff and
ensuring that any symptoms are followed up by testing in the usual way.
Yours in His service

MNCC NEWS TERM 2 WEEK 6
In Week 5 Aviation Studies has continued to run in ‘stealth mode’ as studies have continued with online delivery by Mrs Jenny Avery in NSW. Mr Kim Bennett has again supported the program with students Michael Nunan, Raymond Perry and a new external student Rosie Todd.
Gliders are progressing. Tuesday and Wednesday as weather permitted, our local students have taken to the skies for their flight training. Plans are in progress to run an intensive 2 and 3 day course for all 2nd and 1st year students to make up for the delay in delivering the workshop, flying and drone flying aspects of the course over Weeks 8 and 9.
As the year continues, Year 9s are encouraged to consider enrolling in Aviation Studies for next year.
On Monday, 25 May the Year 12 Child Studies class were busy preparing dishes for their assessment practical. Students had researched suitable dishes for young children ensuring that their recipes were nutritious and appealing.
Preparations began early for some students as they wanted to be on top of their task with plenty of time. Foundation students were invited to try out the prepared dishes.

AVIATION FLIES BELOW THE RADAR
The course runs over two years and is a Stage 1 SACE course, gaining 20 points annually and is heavily subsidised for MNCC students. This is a unique opportunity to experience hands on Aviation that only a few schools in Australia offer. What a way to broaden your experience!

As they waited eagerly with Mrs Ingle for the food to be brought outside, the atmosphere was one of excitement and anticipation. They were not disappointed. The young children’s faces lit up as the food was brought out for them to taste.
The dishes varied from healthy pizza to yoghurt fruit cups. Overall the dishes were quickly consumed and the children had their fill.
The interaction between the Year 12 and Foundation children was lovely to see and one of the joys of being a part of this wonderful small school community. Julie Murdock Food & Hospitality Teacher
MNCC NEWS TERM 2 WEEK 6
The Year 5 class were lucky enough to have a Zoom call with ZanZan company creator and entrepreneur Megan Trimble. The students were able to ask her questions about the challenges and rewards of creating your own business. It was incredibly interesting and valuable for all. Megan also asked the students what passions they had and how they can use those passions to create jobs in the future.

Friday, 29 May should have been MNCCs Grandparents
Day which would have been the first for our Foundation
students. Due to COVID-19, we haven’t been able to
celebrate Grandparents Day this year... at least not yet!
For now, the Foundation students created a gift with
a message for their grandparents which will either be
delivered to them personally or posted away.
We are sure that our grandparents will love their gifts!
God bless from Foundation! Mrs Corrina Ingle

Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas by Lucinda Clifford
Wednesday 27 May, the Foundation to Year 3 students enjoyed reading this years fun book called Whitney & Britney Chicken Divas. It’s a book about a couple of not so ordinary chooks who go out dancing everynight.
They get glammed up with eyeshadow, false eyelashes and a feather boa to dance the night away. Hopefully fox doesn’t catch them.
Students had fun colouring, cutting and decorating their own colourful versions of the divas. Some have sparkles, some have handbags, one even has an electric guitar!
Check out these Chicken Divas by Mrs Howards Year 3 class! Made by (from left to right) Rebecca Mummery, Savannah Harris, Kori Tee, Lilah Miller and Lacee Roberts.

Every year, National Reconciliation Week is celebrated from May 27 to June 3. It is a time dedicated to building positive, respectful relationships between Australians and celebrating Indigenous culture.
The overarching aim of this period is to explore how we can best contribute to the reconciliation process.
There are two important historical milestones that fall on National Reconciliation Week: the anniversary of the 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.
The students in the Primary school recognised Reconciliation week by watching a recorded reading of ‘Sorry Day’ by Coral Vass. Students then spent time decorating a hand with words and pictures that represent reconciliation. Some students chose to use Aboriginal Flags on their hands, and others chose different symbols and colours.
The hands are now displayed in some classroom windows, and I encourage you to check them out.

Updating the look of MNCC Uniforms
While we are rolling our new logo on our Collegeuniforms, we are not expecting families topurchase new items unless they are needed.
We are anticipating a natural phase out of theprevious uniform as items are grown out of orare in need of retiring due to being well worn. We then expect to see the natural phase in ofthe updated logo on our uniforms as they arepurchased to replace old uniform items. There is no intended time frame where we would ask
families to purchase new uniforms. We understandthis can be an unnecessary financial burden.
If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact the College on
8632 4240 for clarification.
