Last Thursday our Te Reo Extension Class had a hakari(feast) to celebrate the Maori New Year (Matariki). We had alot of visitors join us including my Nanny Martha.
The kai (food) we shared was a boil-up made from watercress, bacon, sausages and doughboys or Maori fried bread whichwas made by my Nan. The boil-up had a strong smell and
tasted quite salty.Wed like to thank all the ringawera (workers) for making this asuccessful hakari (feast); also, a big thank you to Mrs Daintyfor letting us use her kitchens. It was a fun experience andnew learning for some of us.
