Pancake Day in Reception! To mark Shrove Tuesday, Acorn Class and Willow Class made their own

pancakes. The children all helped to mix the ingredients together and the

Year 5 Girls “Runners Up” in Christ’s Hospital Maths Competition On Monday the 12th March four Year 5 pupils from

a fun game. Each maths question was to do with a

different topic. There were three groups and in each

group there were five tables with a different activity on

each table. You had eight minutes for each task and

Did you know?

Science Fun Fact:

This week has been British Week. The theme this year was to think about Change. Why not spend some time thinking about what changes are happening in our world today. For example, changes in seasons and climate, materials and energy.

Unlike humans, sheep have four stomachs, each one helps them digest the food they

eat.

Book Character Day On Friday 10th March 2017 we had our Book Character Day. There were many characters such as Harry Potter, Alex Rider, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Billionaire Boy and many more. In the morning we had an assembly. Everyone went up class by class and we admired the different costumes on show. Miss McGinty also presented the Wally

certificates for people who had found

Wally in the hall (he was on the digital

clock). We did many activities in our

class, we designed a secret garden,

described our creations and did flower

pressing as our theme was The Secret

Garden. World book day this year was

great!

Drop Everything and Read On 9th March 2017 every class from Nursery to Year 6 took part in the activity ‘Drop Everything and Read’. Everyone brought in a cushion from home so that during the day at a certain time, the whole school found a quiet space and read their book sitting on their cushion. It was a very enjoyable activity for all ages. The children would read for half an hour until they got back to work. You could huddle just anywhere in the room but not under a table. Everyone thought that this was a memorable and fun day. This activity happens once every year during book week for lots of schools throughout the UK. I just can’t wait until next year! World Book Day Dance On the 9th March 2017, Key Stage 2 children learnt dances inspired by books written by the famous author Roald Dahl. Each year group had selected a book from Roald Dahl. Class 3B had chosen ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ which had a series of groovy moves!! In Class 3G, the children performed Fantastic Mr Fox. The fox family was really fantastic! In Class 4G they danced to the BFG it was based on the new movie. Class 4B performed James and the Giant Peach. Now into Year 5. The theme was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was really delicious! To end the show it was the heart-warming Matilda which made everyone think about their childhood. It was a joy to see.

A Child of Books

During book week we all listened to our class teachers reading ‘A Child of Books’. This book is about a child that comes from a world of stories. There were pictures, made from words, from other books. Our teachers gave us clues to which book it was. I would recommend this book because it is a great book with quotes from different books. These are some of the different books: ‘Alice in Wonderland’, ‘Peter Pan’ and more. We say a huge thank you to our teachers for reading it to us. It really made us think about ourselves as readers. We hope you can read it as well. We made a whole school display of our own writing using the books we have been reading in class as inspiration.

Larmenier & Sacred Heart

Hammersmith & Fulham Swimming Gala Champions

I was really proud to be a part of the Larmenier & Sacred Heart swimming team this year. We beat 12 other schools to come out as the

overall winners for the whole borough! It was such a thrilling day and I will not forget it for a long time.

My speciality strokes are “breast stroke” and “front crawl” and I came 1st in both of my heats and 5th in the final. The whole team made

an amazing effort, Daniel won 3 silver medals and our girls each got a gold medal in the relay race.

Well done to the whole team and thank you to Mr Kincaid for taking us to the tournament.

Zambesi Tales

The whole of Year 3 went to see ‘Zambesi Tales’ at Cadogan

Hall. Zambesi Tales is a show with lots of African music, songs

and an orchestra with a conductor who shows what the tempo is.

We didn't just sit down and listen to people singing, we did lots of

singing too.

There was a really big choir from another school at the hall as

well. It was really fun because when we got into the hall it just

looked absolutely ginormous. One of the best bits was when the

narrators came on and told us what the songs were about. One

of the songs was about two rabbits; one of the rabbits asked if

she could marry the other rabbit. He said only if you make me a

house so she did, right on the spot of a famous tree called the

“Bayabab Tree”. It was made out of the tree’s roots.

We all got to wear giraffe masks for the whole time that we

were at the hall and it was great fun.

And more... Zambesi Tales

Year 3 went to a singing concert called Zambesi Tales on Monday

13th March 2017. We had been practising in our music lessons

and did another practice at the start of the concert. We went, by

tube, to Cadogan Hall, where we were doing the concert. When we

got there we went up some spiral stairs and to our surprise we

stepped into a giant concert hall. We sang brilliantly. We sang

wonderful songs with really good lyrics. My favourite song was

‘Under the Baobab Tree’. There were narrators on the stage telling

the story. All of the children in Year 3 loved this enjoyable

afternoon.
