Congratulations to Brianna Armstrong who has recently received an MIS Hon ours Award. Brianna’s success has been recognised during school assembly and her family were invited to attend.  Part of the requirements to achieve Honours at MIS is to receive two Excellences and one Merit from points gained from Academics, Sports, Culture and Civics. Brianna has achieved three Excellences and one Merit which shows her commitment and consci- entious atti tude across all areas of school l ife.  Brianna has become an Honours student by gaining an Excellence in Academics, Sports an d Culture and a merit in Civics. As with all students who manage to achieve this award, Brianna’s success has been the result of actively making the most of the extension and enrichment programmes our school oers. Brianna’s achievements are not only a credit to herself but an outstanding example of school-wide attitude, charac- ter and eort that we value in all MIS students.  Brianna Armstrong - MIS Honours Student. Merit Award Excellence Awards Congratulations to the following students for receiving Merit and Excellence Awards :  The MIS BULLETZ travelled to Taupo last weekend to compete against other NZ schools for the Junior NZ title. This young team of athle tes came home winners! MIS Year 7 netballers hold the title of NZ Junior Netball Festival Champions! MIS played 7 games to make it to the nals against Maeroa. The girls had some close games especially against Taupo; how- ever, MIS won 18-16 to take them into the semis. MIS played a hard nal against Maeroa winni ng 23-14. Throughout the tournament the girls showed great sports- manship and team work. They all defended and attacked well. The mid-court players showed great court play and the shoot- ers, who were under pressure at times, shot very well.  I, along with the girls would like to thank everyone who supported us by buying raes and supporting the cake stall. All proceeds went towards paying for the team’s accommoda- tion and their entry fee. The team would like to thank the rae winner (who wishes to remain anonymous) who donated the money back to th e team. This paid for the girls to spend a few hours at the hot pools and they denitely deserved that treat, so thank you again! To the team of parents: Te Rehia, Bernadette, Summer, Gav, Hiria and Chief, the girls and I thank you so very much for the support, the transport and for your cheers on the sideline! Lastly to the team, you played well and won well; I, along with your parents, are very proud of the way you conducted your- selves on and o the court. Piako Cultural Festival

As you may know, MIS is hosng the annual Piako Cultural Fesval next Thursday. As a school community it is a

day to showcase our school, our dedicated Kapa Haka and to provide a fabulous day for our community. This year

there will be thirteen schools performing and a great deal of organisaon has taken place. Thank you very much to

our Whanau Support group who have helped with the planning for the day. 

Thank you very much to our school families who have oered to help out with food donaons for the morning

tea / lunch. All donaons of sandwiches, muns, slices etc are gratefully appreciated and these need to be

dropped into school on the morning of Thursday 6th October. Families will be contacted by Teresa Higham

(Whanau Support) within the next day or two. There will be another meeng at 5.30pm on Tuesday next week

in the sta room to nalise organisaon for the day—all welcome. URGENT!!  We sll require more food donaons; please contact the school oce on 889 6629 if you are able to

help with providing sandwiches, muns, slices etc. We also require help with seng up in the morning which

includes seng up the stage and collecng chairs from Morrinsville College. Thank you. We will also be running a sausage sizzle and a coee van will be in school on the day for purchases as well. 

There will be a powhiri at 9.30am and our school Kapa Haka will be performing straight aer this at 10.00am.MIS families not involved in the day are more than welcome to come along and support the students. A gold coin

donaon at the gate will be gratefully accepted. 

Our Kapa Haka will be selling kete (see below), clay hoe (made by students) and raes. All prot made on the

day (including food sales) will go towards fundraising for our Kapa Haka Piu Piu. 

MI Mates Rugby Raffle

Our nal MI Mates fundraiser for 2011 is a Rugby Raein conjunction with the Rugby World Cup.

The 1st prize is a signed 2011 Hurricanes Jersey.

The 2nd prize is a 2011 RWC rugby ball signed by past

and present All Blacks.

The 3rd prize is a large goodie bag of Waikato Chiefs

rugby merchandise. 

The tickets are $2 each and a book of ve tickets hasbeen sent home with school families.

Please return all rae money tomorrow and try to sellany unsold tickets over the weekend. The rae will bedrawn on Friday 7th October which is the last day of

term.

Thank you to all families for their continued supportwith school fundraising! 

All MIS Livestock Day Cups from 2010

need to be returned to school ASAP.

Morrinsville College Enrolments are now well overdue!

If your child will be aending Morrinsville College next

year please ll out the yellow enrolment form ASAP if you haven't already done so. This form was sent home

to all year 8 students mid-year by the college along with

their prospectus. Enrolment forms can be dropped o at

our school oce or the college oce.

Kete For Sale

Our Kapa Haka is currently selling kete as a fund-raiser for their piu piu.

We have two styles available; one style has beendecorated by students and they are for sale for between $3 and $5. We are also selling larger feather -like kete for $20.

These are available to view at the office. 

Piako Gymnastics Holiday Programme. To be held on the 11th, 12th & 13th October.Two sessions per day 9.00am—12.00pm and12.00pm—3.00pm. Ages 5-13years. $20 per full day or $12 per half day session ($35 for twochildren for a full day). Phone Jacqui Callaghanon 889 1622 / 027 347 2930 for more info.
