PRIDE Day

We have had an extremely busy start to the new term with a hugely successful Open Evening attended

by over 900 hundred prospective students and parents. I cannot praise our students enough, especially

Deno Burton, Ezekiel Ifekaya, Mellie Colate, Sonny Kellett-Morris and Lydia Plant who spoke on stage

about their experience of starting secondary school. I have also received so many emails from parents

commenting on the wonderful tour guides and student ambassadors. Thank you to all involved for

giving up your time, you really are a huge credit to the school!

We were delighted to welcome The Welsh Guards, IBM and Maidenhead Foodbank to the school on

PRIDE day. Once again, our students were a huge credit to us and spent the day engaged, focussed and

interested. Students also participated in team games and sports and a team of Year 11 students spent

the day volunteering at Maidenhead Waterways which was exhilarating and exhausting for all involved!

Huge thanks must go to Mr Burrows for his efforts in organising such a successful day, one which the

students got so much from!

Student Success

Finlay Moore 10.3

Rugby: Finlay plays for London Scottish, one of the oldest and most famous clubs in the world and who

are based in Richmond. He is in the Developing Player Pathway which is essentially County training

squad, in this case for Middlesex. Furthermore he is also in the Scottish Qualified wider squad. This is for

players who are qualified to play for Scotland but don’t live or go to school there. Three teams will be

selected - East Scotland, West Scotland and, Scottish Qualified - and the national squad will be picked

from them. All the signals are that Finlay has a good chance of being in the final SQ team. Most selected

players are at public school; to be selected from a non rugby playing state school is unusual.

Javelin: Finlay is at the top of the rankings ie Number 1 for Scotland and 5th in the UK. He is doing this

without the proper footwear (which makes a difference with this discipline) and using a supplied javelin

as he doesn’t have his own one.

Well Done Finlay.

Would you like to give it a new home?

The Technology Department would be delighted to give them a new life. We

would like to run some pasta making sessions with our Year 9 and Year 10

groups and would be grateful for any donations.

If you do have a machine that you are happy to donate, please ask your son/

daughter to hand them in to reception, where they will be relocated to their

‘very busy’ new home.

Many thanks in advance,
