KR POP ART JOURNEY! The boys and girls in KR have really enjoyed listening to stories with bold words and exclamation marks! During shared reading time, we have discussed that the author has written the words this way for us to read it with expression.

To make our artworks POP!, we looked at the colour wheel and discussed how colours on the opposite ends of the wheel stood out the most. We then used lots of different art techniques to create the varied effects in our artworks.

In planning for our class 60s inspired art, we decided to use these words for the focus of our artworks. First, we looked at some images of 60s comic book strips that used the same technique. The boys and girls chose words such as, ‘BOO!’, ‘CRASH!’, ‘POP’, and ‘POW’ for their artworks.

The boys and girls enjoyed using the oil pastels, water-based washes, marble painting with fluorescent colours, dot painting and collaging to create their work. We were all very proud to have our 60s themed artworks on display at the art show!
