On December 14, 2014, President Jan Smith called the meeting to order. Af-

ter the Pledge of Allegiance, Ernie Rensi motioned to accept the Minutes of

the November 2014 meeting and Jackie Sheerer seconded. Treasurer Jack

Swaney read the Treasurer’s Report and Michael Quinn made a motion to ac-

cept the Report. Bob Zufall seconded. No guests were present and no new

members were present.

Daryl Elliott informed the Club that Jim Driscoll is doing a lot better and he is

going to be helping out again with the Car Flea Market. Judy Pribanic is also

doing better. Bonnie Smith is recuperating nicely from knee surgery.

Jackie Sheerer announced that Wounded Warriors, Smile and St. Jude’s Re-

search Hospital would be our Club’s charities next year. After some discussion,

Jackie Sheerer will request additional information about “Smile” and be back

in touch with Pat O’Neill so he can put our charities on the advertisement for

the Flea Market. Jan Smith read a thank you from Wounded Warriors for our

gift of October 29, 2014.

Daryl Elliott made a motion to accept the following slate of officers starting

January 2015: President Michael J. Quinn; Vice President Joe Somerville; Secre-

tary Diane Otto; Treasurer Jack Swaney; Director Bob Goetz. Steve Illsley sec-

onded the motion and it was unanimously accepted.

Jack Swaney informed the Club that the After-Christmas Party will be held at

Grieco’s Carefree Inn on Route 910 in Indianola on February 8, 2014. He read

the food selections and prices. The reservation slip will be included in the next

Newsletter. Your 2015 dues must be paid to attend the dinner.

Daryl Elliott said they are in good shape for the annual Flea Market. Pat O’Neill

indicated that some time in Spring there may be a painting seminar at Al

Zamba’s. Details will follow.

Steve Illsley said the Men’s breakfasts will continue and he also said he is work-

ing on a summer tour. The Club thanked Jan and Bonnie Smith for their service

to the Club. Our next meeting is January 11, 2015. Steve Illsley adjourned the

meeting.

Respectfully submitted,

Antoinette S. Quinn in the absence of Bonnie Smith

NHHAC NEWS January 2015 Page 5

Be advised that the state of PA is now

following up on all insurance cancel-

lations on antique or collector cars.

When the state is notified by the insur-

ance company that insurance has

been dropped you will get a notice

demanding an explanation of the

transaction. When sold they want a

copy of the bill of sale or a copy of

both sides of the title. I have recently

experienced this and several of my

friends have as well. If you sell keep

records as you will need them. ——————————————————————————-

Editor’s Note: The above applies to all

vehicles, not just antique or collector

cars, and it is true whether you inten-

tionally cancel your insurance or it is

cancelled by your insurer. An article

on the Gannon Insurance website

warns that “PA state law requires you

to insure all registered vehicles. If you

drop the insurance on a registered

vehicle – regardless if it’s intentional or

not, and even if only for a day – your

registration is subject to a 3-month sus-

pension. You must return the registra-

tion plate, sticker, and card to the

DMV. However, if you reinstate your

insurance quickly, you can avoid the

suspension by signing an affidavit de-

claring that nobody operated the ve-

hicle while it was uninsured.”

If you’re late paying your insurance

premium—even by only one day—

your insurer can cancel your policy. It

must then report the cancellation to

the state. You may have a grace pe-

riod to pay and reinstate your cover-

age, but in the meantime, the state

has been notified that your insurance

was cancelled. If you drive your car

during the suspension period, but sign

an affidavit stating that the vehicle

was not operated during that time,

you have committed a misdemeanor.

The best way to avoid this situation?

Always pay your premium by the due

date.

Alert from Bob Cirilli on keeping your car insured.
