General Announcements:

Winter Break: We are so incredibly proud of how hard our students have worked this first semester.

Overall, we have seen a lot of growth academically, socially, and emotionally. They

definitely deserve this break! We wish you and your family a healthy and happy holiday season. We hope 2022 brings peace and happiness to

all. Enjoy these next few weeks and we will see you all on Tuesday, January 11th!

Second Semester Success: Second semester is when we start to see

students really soar! For students to meet their full potential, it is vital they attend school

consistently. When students are not demonstrating any ill symptoms, they need to be at school and on time daily. Regular attendance

is a big indicator on how well students do academically and emotionally. When they do not attend consistently, they miss out on classroom

instruction and guidance from their teacher, and can cause anxiety in students. Please make your best effort to have your child at school so we can make the most of the remainder of the

school year!

MVUSD report cards are standards-based. Learners are scored ontheir progress made toward mastery of grade level standards.

Numerical scores are not equivalent to the traditional gradingscale of A, B, C, D, F. See below for a description of what eachscore means. Work Habits scores are also important to monitorand discuss with your student.

More students may currently be "approaching standards" or "notyet meeting standards" due to the pandemic. It may take moretime and effort to get all students to grade level.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND

4 - Exceeding Standards Student consistently shows masteryand works at a more complex level. This should not be confusedwith strong work habits.

3 - Meeting Standards Student meets the grade level standardsand grasps and applies all concepts. This is the goal for allstudents.

2 - Approaching Standards Student is approaching currenttargets and is beginning to grasp and apply key concepts.

1 - Not Yet Meeting Standards Student needs more time, support, and intervention to meet grade level standards.

SEL Focus: KindnessSEL Focus: Kindness

During the week of January 24th-28th we celebrate the Great KindnessChallenge. At the heart of the Great Kindness Challenge is a simple beliefthat kindness is strength. We also believe that as an action is repeated, a

habit is formed. With the Great Kindness Challenge checklist in hand, students have the opportunity to repeat kind act after kind act. As

kindness becomes a habit, peace becomes possible. The Great KindnessChallenge is a grassroots movement that is making our schools,

communities, and world a kinder and more compassionate place for all. Working together, we joyfully prove that KINDNESS MATTERS!
