Six Reasons To Sponsor EventsAs a marketer, this is my planning period. I’m knee-deep in

evaluating trade shows and sponsorship packages to determine how to spend my marketing promotion dollars in 2018. Trade shows play an important role in my business as they do in yours. These events provide a platform for building your company’s brand equity, showcasing thought leadership and of course, bringing in the sale.

Promotional Consultant Today shares these six reasons to consider allocating some of your marketing dollars to sponsorships.1. Put your business in the spotlight. Having a presence at a

conference or business event positions you and your business as an authority in your industry. You gain respect and credibility by standing out from the pack of attendees and prominently displaying your products and marketing materials. Instead of just attending an event and looking for people with which to share your business card, sponsorship brings attendees who are eager to find out about your business directly to you.

2. Get in front of your target market. The show’s organizers are spending time and money marketing the event to your target audience and bringing these attendees into the room. Your job is to come prepared to take full advantage of this opportunity by

making sure to create eye catching, professional signs, marketing materials and product displays that draw attendees to you.

3. Focus on lead generation and new contacts. Be sure to have some sort of lead generation system in place the day of the event. People will give their business cards and e-mail addresses in exchange for a chance to win a great prize in a drawing, samples or even candy and other promotional item giveaways. And just like you tell your clients, give thoughtful consideration to the promotional item you want to include early in your planning process.

4. Get your brand noticed. Being featured in the program book of the event, having your logo on the event’s website and adding a promotional product to attendee gift bags are all great ways to leverage your sponsorship and get brand recognition.

5. New clients and new customers mean business. Not only are the attendees of the event potential new clients and customers, so are your fellow sponsors and vendors. You can form new business partnerships at events and meet like-minded business professionals in complimentary businesses with which you share the same target market but are not in competition.

6. Give attendees a “taste” of your business. Bringing samples to an event as giveaways a terrific way to capture attention from attendees. Be creative and think of out-of-the-box ways to stand out. By sharing a sample or trial offer of your product, you engage attendees and increase your chances of turning them into new customers.

THREE WAYS TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR

CHAMBER MEMBERSHIP AND THE POWER OF MORE!1) The Chamber as a resource. As a member a great way of increasing visibility and credibility is by presenting seminars that off er information relevant to other members. Also, attending events and networking with other members to share information and to see what they have to off er you. Th e Power of More off ers you an extra advantage that most Chambers do not have. Use it!

2) Get involved. Attend as many events as possible.Like most services that charge a membership fee, if you don’t participate, it won’t work. Th ere are not a lot of people I know who join a gym and get fi t without showing up. Th e same applies to your chamber membership. If you get involved by serving on chamber committees, it will help you build stature in your com-munity. As a member you can help your local chamber enhance their benefi ts by off ering your services.

This will only lead to more exposure for your company. Go on and flex your business acumen, why don’t you?

3) Sponsor special events. Each Chamber along with Power of More Events already has a preset list of special or major events that we offer through-out the year. Some may include business expos, luncheons, galas, golf tournaments, Business Before Hours, and Busi-ness After Hours. These are great opportunities for you as a business owner to invest some money on an event where you can acquire many new customers. Most sponsorships include a packaged deal where you are promoted before the event on all media outlets, and it may include a vendor booth where you can interact personally with potential customers. Picking the right events to sponsor can contribute to rapid growth for your company. Also, take advantage of advertising on our new websites and in newsletters to get your business’s name out there!

Participation is key -- attend events, sponsor events, join committees, offer your services and get involved. Lastly consider investing in advertising to promote your business.
