What is AI?

In a nutshell,

AI or Artificial intelligence is the science of getting computers to do tasks that require human intelligence.

From Machine Learning to Deep Learning

Back in 1997, IBM’s Deep Blue defeated chess champion Garry Kasparov.

It did this by studying humans and replaying prior matches.

In 2016, AlphaGo, a program created by the Google Deepmind division, defeated Lee Se-dol, one of the world’s top players in ‘GO’.

In what is since published, AlphaGo didn’t “learn” from humans. It used Deep Learning method. Humans may have taught AlphaGo the rules, but the program mastered the game by playing against itself.

3. We need health service transformation centred around people, that is enabled by technology. Too often we look for technology for answers.

• Aim to increase efficiency, improve patient outcomes and improve the patient experience.

• At the same time, we need to work hard to ensure that we do not create a digital divide or forget the need for health equity.
