Maths
⭐ Colour the shape with the greatest (largest) area.
⭐Count the grey squares first for each shape. Then circle the shape with the greatest area for
question a) and question b).
⭐⭐: Ordering Area – Find the areas of the shapes below by counting the squares and then
put the areas in order from smallest to largest.
⭐⭐⭐ Write down the area for each shape. The unit of measurement is squares so we are
using ‘square units’ to get the area for each shape. Be careful to only count each square once.

CAPA Drama: You might like to video yourself performing this Drama sequence and share with your family or teacher.
1. Pretend you are an apple seed, crammed tightly into your seed pod. It is winter and you are covered in snow. It is very dark.
2. Now, it is Spring. The earth around you is growing warmer and you start to wake up. The snow melts and the water soaks down to you.
3. You use your energy to push your way through the soil. 4. It is time to come out of your seed pod, just like a baby bird cracks out of an egg. 5. You give one final push and out you come, through the soil and feel the sun for the first
time. 6. Over time you grow into a young tree. 7. You have leaves and you are growing apples on your branches. 8. The apples become heavy and you are weighted down. 9. Suddenly your apples start going, they are being pulled off your branches and your
branches are becoming lighter. 10. You know that the apples will be back next year, it is Winter again and time to rest.
