Writing

Write your first and second paragraph (yr3) OR build up and create the complication (yr2).

You are continuing to work on your imaginative text to develop the paragraphs (year 3) or

events (year 2).

We use paragraphs to organise information. A paragraph is one idea. Remember to use time

conjunctions to sequence your ideas e.g. then, as a result of…

Don’t forget to refer to the writing mats for support

Spelling (See Monday Spelling for words)

Do ‘Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check’ with your spelling words.

Next to your spelling words write how many syllables are

in each one. Remember to clap the word to work out the

number of syllables.

Grammar

Continuing with verb tenses. In this activity you will be

identifying which sentences show the Past, Present, and

Future tense. Year 1 will be circling if the sentence is in

Past, Present or future tense. Year 2 will be writing

whether the sentence is in Past, Present or Future tense

and circle the action verb.

Maths Number talk: Write down everything you know about finding the area of a shape.

Mathematics

Area: When we find the area of a shape we are measuring the amount of space inside that shape. Choose either star 1, 2 or 3 to do. You may decide to do all 3 stars. You may also like to watch this NumberJacks episode which is all about area. NUMBERJACKS | Areas Of Concern | S2E15

⭐⭐: Ordering Area – Find the areas of the shapes below by counting the squares and then

put the areas in order from smallest to largest.

Page 5: ‘Nothing but the best’ - Be Safe. Be Respectful, Be

⭐⭐⭐ Write down the area for each shape. The unit of measurement is squares so we are

using ‘square units’ to get the area for each shape. Be careful to only count each square once.

CAPA Drama: You might like to video yourself performing this Drama sequence and share with your family or teacher.

1. Pretend you are an apple seed, crammed tightly into your seed pod. It is winter and you are covered in snow. It is very dark.

2. Now, it is Spring. The earth around you is growing warmer and you start to wake up. The snow melts and the water soaks down to you.

3. You use your energy to push your way through the soil. 4. It is time to come out of your seed pod, just like a baby bird cracks out of an egg. 5. You give one final push and out you come, through the soil and feel the sun for the first

time. 6. Over time you grow into a young tree. 7. You have leaves and you are growing apples on your branches. 8. The apples become heavy and you are weighted down. 9. Suddenly your apples start going, they are being pulled off your branches and your

branches are becoming lighter. 10. You know that the apples will be back next year, it is Winter again and time to rest.

End of Day Photos- Don’t forget to upload a photo or video of your learning onto Seesaw so that your teacher can see how you are progressing. Files- If you’ve been completing your work in a word document don’t forget to upload it to Microsoft Teams so that your teacher can see you are progressing. Thank- your parent/ carer for helping you with your learning today.

Have a rest- so that you will have another great day of learning tomorrow.
