A mathematician, a physicist, and an engineer were all given a red rubber ball and told to find the volume. The mathematician carefully measured the diameter and evaluated a triple integral. The physicist filled a beaker with water, put the ball in the water, and measured the total displacement. The engineer looked up the model and serial numbers in his red-rubber-ball table.

Letters to the BuzzConcerned about the JP race In the process of research and review of the personal history of the county candidates, I find it interesting, the number of people who have pursued the office of Valley County Justice of the Peace. This office is often referred to as the people’s court which to me suggests the successful candidate must process the ability to get along with management as well as the general public. My research found that one of the candidates seems to find it difficult to get along, resigning from Valley County Emergency Medical Services and the Fire Department as well as strained relations in the Court House. The one thing which concerns me most is one of the remaining candidates, in January 2013, amended a DUI to reckless driving for fear the defendant would lose his job. This brings me to wonder if all defendants with CDL’s would be dismissed, which would turn our state highways and county roads into an extremely hazardous environment. ~ Gene O. Hartsock

What about Sergeant Tahmooressi? Something else for you Obama lovers. Here he sends 3,000 army personnel and 1,000 Marines to West Africa to help fight the Ebola crisis. Instead of that, he should have taken the Marines and sent them down to the Tecate Prison in Mexico where Sergeant Tahmooressi is being held and got him out of prison by any means necessary. To hell with collateral damage. Commander in Chief my a--! He thinks more of the Africans than his own military people. ~ Lewis Mains
