Refrain: Rain down, rain down, rain down your love on your people. Rain down, rain down, rain down your love, God of life. 1. Faithful and true is the word of our God. All of God’s works are so worthy of trust. God’s mercy falls on the just and the right;

full of God’s love is the earth. (refrain) 2. We who revere and find hope in our God live in the kindness and joy of God’s wing. God will protect us from darkness and

hearts and our spirits are nurtured by grace. It is Jesus who fills us. He is here in this place. 2. All our live are a myst’ry, we see not where they lead. DID YOU KNOW?

Bystander engagement is critical to combat child abuse There are far too many cases in which a child is too scared to report abuse, and the adults around him or her do not understand the signs of abuse or too afraid to speak up. Bystanders have more power than they know, especially when it comes to reporting abuse and protect-ing children. Young adults don’t always have the oppor-tunity or the courage to speak up for themselves, and the adults around them have a duty to help out when they can. For a copy of the VIRTUS® article “Bystander Engagement – Primary Prevention of a Different Sort,” [email protected] or call 213-637-7227.

A LITTLE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH The apostles, like Habakkuk, are complaining about the state of the

world and the state of their faith. They want more faith. Jesus' response seems unkind, a reminder that even a tiny bit of faith can accomplish astonishing things. But rather than being unkind, perhaps it is a hopeful reminder of how little faith is necessary to sustain us even in a world that seems overwhelmed with violence, misery, strife, and discord. We don't have to be paragons of faith. We don't have to have overwhelming amounts of faith. We only need the tiniest bit of faith in order to accomplish the most amazing feats. We need only be a mustard seed in order to shake the foundations of the world and create a realm of love and peace.

WHAT IS SACRIFICIAL GIVING?

Sacrificial giving is a necessary expression of what we say we believe. It requires thought and time, so that it is integrated with other financial decisions as part of an intentional and prayerful response to God’s generosity. Sacrificial Giving is also:

An act of thanksgiving – our offering is a grateful response to the immense love God has shown.

A gift – what we give to our Parish is a gift, given without reservation or condition. The gifts of God are given to us in an unconditional manner, and we are called to model our giving after God’s.

Planned – a decision requiring thought and time. We are called to give our first fruits. We don’t give merely what we happen to have left at the end of the week.

Proportionate – our giving is proportionate to what God has given us. We give in propor-tion to the gifts we’ve received. Some use the biblical concept of the tithe, a tenth, as a guide, but in any case, the gift is a portion of our resources.

Sacrificial – we give back to God from our substance rather than our abundance. When we give out of our substance rather than what is left over, we grow in faith.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NONDISCRIMINATION POLICY

2016-2017 SCHOOL STUDENT NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY The school, mindful of its mission to be a witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students regardless of race, color or national and/or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.

The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, disability, medical condition, sex or national and/or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs, although certain athletic leagues and other programs may limit participation and some archdiocesan schools operate as single sex schools.

While the school does not discriminate against students with special needs, a full range of services may not always be available to them. Decisions concerning the admission and continued enrollment of a student in the school are based upon the student’s emotional, academic and physical abilities and the resources available to the school in meeting the student’s needs.
