Kids‘ highlights!Hits for kids – Playgrounds

The entire Ötztal valley boasts a myriad of exciting children‘s playgrounds, just perfect for having fun, doing sports and romping around with friends. Under „Playgrounds & Leisure Centers“ you find a whole list of attractions. We also have two new adventurous sites promising unlimited fun and action: the ultimate „Adventure Playground“ in Oetz takes you on a travel back in time, ranking among Tirol‘s largest playgrounds which are free of charge. Climbing, balancing, sliding and swinging are on the exciting program. In the sandy mud area kids can try washing gold, and with a bit of luck, they find a little piece of gold! A small bridge takes daredevils to the adventure area with shaking trails, balance beams and suspended ropes. Water fans take a swim in the adjacent outdoor pool featuring a 50-meter long water slide. Action guaranteed! In Vent, right behind the „Familienhotel Vent“, we have built a superb „Water & Play Park“ for children of all ages. Discover the wet element in all its facets.

Treasure Hunting geOCaCHing – a FUn-FilleD TReaSURe HUnT!

Active families are heading for some great treasures spread over the entire Ötztal. In the villages of Oetz, Niederthai, Längenfeld and Sölden small caches (treasure boxes) are hidden along certain routes. Find them by using a special treasure map, available at all Ötztal Tourismus offices. Each cache contains a small item for trading, a log book and a hole punch or a secret code. Depending on the route, you either stamp the right cache box on the treasure map or memorize the secret code.

„TimmelSJOCH eXPlORaTiOn“: 5 STaTiOnS – a UniQUe eXPeRienCeConquer Timmelsjoch Pass by public bus - enjoy a comfortable ride between „Obergurgl – Timmelsjoch – Moos/Passeier“. For more details check the „Regio Ötztal“ bus schedule.

1 - „Pass Museum“, Timmelsjoch The Pass Museum stretches from the Austrian to the Italian

Tirol, focusing on its cross-border character. The history of the Timmelsjoch as an alpine pass is dating back to pre-Christian times. Images display the construction of the panoramic road. And an interior „Ice Cave“ is dedicated to the pioneers and constructors of this superb high Alpine road. Free admission!

2 - „Garnet“, Moos in Passeier The rock face near South Tirol‘s Stuls offers stunning views of

Moos and the rear Passeiertal valley. Two huge garnets, a natural imitation of the Passeier rock formations, host an exhibition room and a viewing platform.

3 - „Footpath“, Hochgurgl Enjoy the truly breathtaking panorama at the toll road

station. A spectacular footpath opens up new dimensions, providing information about the landscape and its peculiarities.

4 - „Smugglers“, Timmelsbach bridge A walk-in cube gives an insight into the adventurous

world of the smugglers on their way across Timmelsjoch pass.

5 - „Telescope“, Scheibkopf The area below Scheibkopf offers a splendid 180-degree panorama

of the protected Texel Nature Reserve. Thanks to a telescope you can take a closer look at scenic Granatkogel (3304 m) and Hoher First (3403 m) amid the eternal glacier ice.

PiCCaRD anD THe glaCieR – OBeRgURgl-HOCHgURglIn 1931 the sleepy mountain village was in the news all over the world: the famous stratosphere expert Auguste Piccard made an emergency landing in his hot-air balloon on Gurgler Ferner glacier in the Ötztal Alps. Due to this breakdown, tourism was kicked off in Obergurgl for the first time. A Piccard memorial can still be found in vicinity to the local parish church. 6450 Obergurgl – village centerwww.obergurgl.com
