HOLIDAY SPONSORSHIP

PROGRAM 2019Putting the heart in the holidays

As your local chi ldren’s a id society and chi ld & youth mental healthprovider, S imcoe Muskoka Fami ly Connexions (SMFC) provides needed

services to vulnerable chi ldren, youth and fami l ies in our community, manyof whom struggle to meet their bas ic needs. Your support th is hol iday

season wi l l he lp them have hope and know that someone cares. Through our sponsorship program, generous donors and partnerships with

local bus inesses and organizat ions, we are able to help c lose to 3,000chi ldren, youth and fami l ies across S imcoe and Muskoka.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What is the the Hol iday Sponsorship Program?

The program is intended to ass ist fami l ies that are in a service re lat ionshipwith our agency who are current ly struggl ing f inancia l ly and unable to

afford a hol iday celebrat ion. They inc lude k in care providers, mental healthcl ients, fami ly service users and youth in independent l iv ing. It is an

inclus ive program for indiv iduals of any race, creed, or re l ig ious aff i l iat ion.It is intended to support a winter celebrat ion of their choosing.

How can I help?

Just as there is d ivers i ty in those we help, we know donors have a var ietyof reasons, ways and means to support those in need. You can chose to

sponsor and shop for chi ldren, youth and/or fami l ies to create a hamper;buy i tems in bulk that can be used to ass ist fami l ies, or provide a f inancia l

donat ion to be used to purchase needed i tems.

What's in a hamper?Hampers inc lude chi ldren's toys, winter i tems, stocking stuffers, smal l adultgifts, youth i tems, and grocery and other gift cards. See "how to shop" and

"Age Wishl ists" in th is guide as personal ized wishl ists are not provided.

How are cl ients nominated?El ig ib i l i ty is based on need and appl icat ions are submitted by SMFC staff .

Because staff know fami l ies and youth the best, we re ly on workers todecide who would benef i t from being sponsored. We know that 89% of

fami l ies we work with struggle to meet their bas ic needs, but due tof inancia l l imitat ions, we ask those with the greatest need be nominated.

Kin fami l ies and independent youth are pr ior i t ized for sponsorships.
