Yesterday we had our School Development Day (SDD) at which Dubbo West Public School staff joined us. Between 9.00am and 11.00am we looked at the changes we are facing under Every Student, Every School (ESES), Local Schools Local Decisions (LSLD) and staff responsibilities for financial management. ESES and LSLD are major changes to the ways in which schools operate and we are going to have to make many changes within our infrastructure planning to accommodate these. In many ways they are a complete change of management processes and we are going to have to plan from a completely different perspective. Non-teaching staff also looked at catering for the needs of diabetic children and their roles and responsibilities. Between morning tea and lunch we focussed on quality teaching with presentations by Mrs Munro from our school and Mrs Jeanette Reid from Dubbo West as well as the role of the computer co-ordinator led by Mrs Lockyer. After lunch our Maths team presented on the use of a process called Maths Matters and we finished the day with an update on Windows 7 which has been installed on our computer system. Incidently during the holidays we had a new server installed at the school we are the first “big school” in Western NSW to have this done and are the “guinea pigs” for the process! All in all a busy and productive day. We have the launch of our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) initiative this Friday. Part of this will be a free BBQ lunch for all students and attendees. We strongly encourage parents and carers to attend if possible to enjoy the assembly, participate in the activities with their children and enjoy a complementary lunch. I am also looking for anyone who can assist me with the BBQ, we are looking at cooking and serving approximately 1000 sausages so will need assistance with this many to cater for. On Thursday of this week Mrs Hall and I will be taking the Girls Soccer Team to Cobar for the next round of the state knockout competition. I am the designated bus driver! Whilst this entails a “fair” drive, it doesn’t go close to my longest which I did years ago when I drove a bus load of boys to a league carnival in Tamworth from Goodooga and back on the same day. This was on my own and I can well remember how tired I was at the end of it! Staffing Changes: Mrs Jo Blatch commences in Week 2 on 3/4G. Term 3 Week 1 Tuesday 17 July 2012

From the Principal

Welcome back to Term 3 for the year, I hope everyone had a

lovely break and enjoyed the “cooler” weather! Yesterday we

had our School Development Day (SDD) at which Dubbo West

Public School staff joined us. Between 9.00am and 11.00am we

looked at the changes we are facing under Every Student,

Every School (ESES), Local Schools Local Decisions (LSLD)

and staff responsibilities for financial management. ESES and

LSLD are major changes to the ways in which schools operate

and we are going to have to make many changes within our

infrastructure planning to accommodate these. In many ways

they are a complete change of management processes and we

are going to have to plan from a completely different

perspective. Non-teaching staff also looked at catering for the

needs of diabetic children and their roles and responsibilities.

Between morning tea and lunch we focussed on quality

teaching with presentations by Mrs Munro from our school and

Mrs Jeanette Reid from Dubbo West as well as the role of the

computer co-ordinator led by Mrs Lockyer. After lunch our

Maths team presented on the use of a process called Maths

Matters and we finished the day with an update on Windows 7

which has been installed on our computer system. Incidently

during the holidays we had a new server installed at the school

– we are the first “big school” in Western NSW to have this

done and are the “guinea pigs” for the process! All in all a busy

and productive day.

We have the launch of our Positive Behaviour for Learning

(PBL) initiative this Friday. Part of this will be a free BBQ lunch

for all students and attendees. We strongly encourage parents

and carers to attend if possible to enjoy the assembly,

participate in the activities with their children and enjoy a

complementary lunch. I am also looking for anyone who can

assist me with the BBQ, we are looking at cooking and serving

approximately 1000 sausages so will need assistance with this

many to cater for.

On Thursday of this week Mrs Hall and I will be taking the Girls

Soccer Team to Cobar for the next round of the state knockout

competition. I am the designated bus driver! Whilst this entails a

“fair” drive, it doesn’t go close to my longest which I did years

ago when I drove a bus load of boys to a league carnival in

Tamworth from Goodooga and back on the same day. This was

on my own and I can well remember how tired I was at the end

of it!

Staffing Changes:

Mrs Jo Blatch commences in Week 2 on 3/4G. Mr

Horn will team teach with her for this week as part of

the “change over” process.

Mrs Gillian Hill has commenced two days per week

(Tuesday/Wednesday) as a Learning and Support

(LAS) Teacher.

Mr Shepherd our general assistant is on leave. At

present we have Mr Lionel Leigo filling in his role.

We have Brianna Cook from CSU Dubbo and Isacc

Kinscher from Newcastle University in our school at

present as part of their university teaching degrees.

Enjoy Term 3. Craig Renneberg
