My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,

We have arrived. I invite each and every one of us to join our brothers and

sisters preparing for their Sacraments of Initiation this week to live this week

differently than we do any other week in the year. The Resurrection of Jesus finds its meaning in His Passion. The better we enter into this week, the

better prepared we are to let Easter reform our lives.

I would like to highlight what is coming up. Holy Monday, the Council of

Catholic Women will host our annual Bread and Soup Dinner in the Parish

Hall. Following dinner the Youth Ministry of the parish will present the movie Babette’s Feast. Babette’s Feast provides a beautiful metaphor for the

Eucharist as we prepare to celebrate Holy Thursday.

Holy Tuesday the Archbishop celebrates the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral. This year we have the blessing of some of our students from Our Lady of

Lourdes Parish School joining us for the Mass. This is the day when our

priests renew the promises made at ordination and the Holy Oils of Catechumens, Chrism, and the Sick are blessed. These Oils will be brought

to us at Our Lady of Lourdes and presented at Mass on Holy Thursday.

Holy Wednesday we have the beautiful choir reflection on the Passion that is

Tenebrae. Tenebrae takes place in the main church and its beauty has the

power to settle us in and focus us on the Triduum that lies ahead.

The Triduum is three liturgies that we celebrate as one. Please make every

effort to be present for all three and you will understand why. Holy

Thursday is the Mass of the Lord’s Supper where we remember the Last Supper and give thanks for Jesus’ institution of the Holy Eucharist and the

Holy Priesthood. Good Friday we again hear the whole Passion proclaimed -

this time from John the Evangelist reminding us that Jesus’ Passion was his

gift freely given to us not something that was forced upon him. Finally the Easter vigil is when we celebrate the final victory - Jesus’ Resurrection - and

we share the new life that we have found in Christ with our brothers and

sisters who have come to know him and seek to die with him in Baptism so as to live with him in his Resurrection.

This is truly a powerful and important week and I commend our parish family for the beauty and dignity that we bring to it each year. Join us this

year – and you will be with us for every year after that.

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,

Hemos llegado. Invito a todos y cada uno de nosotros a unirse a nuestros

hermanos y hermanas que se preparan para sus Sacramentos de Iniciación esta

semana para vivir esta semana de manera diferente a lo que hacemos cualquier otra semana del año. La Resurrección de Jesús encuentra su sentido en su

Pasión. Mientras mejor entramos en esta semana, mejor preparados estaremos

para dejar que la Pascua reforme nuestras vidas.

Me gustaría destacar lo que viene. El lunes Santo, el Consejo de Mujeres

Católicas será el anfitrión de nuestra cena anual de pan y sopa en el Salón Parroquial. Después de la cena, el Ministerio de Jóvenes de la parroquia

presentará la película El festín de Babette. El festín de Babette ofrece una

hermosa metáfora de la Eucaristía, mientras nos preparamos para celebrar el

Jueves Santo.

El martes Santo el Arzobispo celebra la Misa Crismal en la Catedral. Este año

tenemos la bendición de que algunos de nuestros estudiantes de la Escuela parroquial de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes se unirán a la Misa. Este es el día en

que nuestros sacerdotes renuevan las promesas hechas en la ordenación y los

santos óleos de los catecúmenos, Crisma, y los enfermos son bendecidos. Estos aceites serán llevados ante nosotros en Nuestra Señora de Lourdes y se

presentan en la Misa del Jueves Santo.

El miércoles Santo tenemos el hermoso coro de la reflexión sobre la Pasión que es Tenebrae. Tenebrae se lleva a cabo en la iglesia principal y su belleza tiene el

poder para establecernos y centrarnos en el Triduo que se avecina.

El Triduo es tres liturgias que celebramos como una sola. Por favor, haga todo

lo posible por estar presente para las tres y entenderá porqué. El Jueves Santo

es la Misa de la Cena del Señor, donde se recuerda la Última Cena y damos

gracias por la institución de Jesús de la Sagrada Eucaristía y el Santo Sacerdocio. El Viernes Santo de nuevo oímos toda la Pasión proclamarse - esta

vez de Juan el evangelista quien nos recuerda que la Pasión de Jesús era su don

gratuito para nosotros no es algo que se impone a él. Por último, la vigilia Pascual es cuando celebramos la victoria final - la Resurrección de Jesús - y

compartimos la vida nueva que nos hemos encontrado en Cristo con nuestros

hermanos y hermanas que han venido a conocerlo y tratar de morir con él en el bautismo, a fin de vivir con él en su resurrección.

Esta es verdaderamente una semana poderosa e importante y felicito a nuestra

familia parroquial por la belleza y la dignidad que nos traen a ella cada año. Únase a nosotros este año - y estará con nosotros durante todos los años después

de eso.

School of Evangelization The School of Evangelization (SOE) at Our Lady of Lourdes offers a program in English that develops evangelizers to carry out the

Church's mission. An evangelizer must be a witness - someone who has experienced a personal encounter with the Living Jesus Christ. We

are all called to evangelize through our example and our messages in our homes, workplaces, and communities.

Our program takes you on a journey, with four paths along the way: Philip, Jerusalem, Isaiah, and Paul. Each of these 4 basic courses

will help you renew and deepen your relationship with the Holy Trinity and the Word of God. These courses develop your spiritual

maturity so that you can contribute more fully to our Church.

Those of us who serve in the SOE have a calling to teach and form others to do the same so that the Church's mission of the

New Evangelization will expand and continue to reach many who need to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. To become part of the SOE,

you must first complete the 4 basic courses; have a calling and ability to teach; and be committed to continuous learning.

Instagram Dangers April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Each week the Archdiocese of Miami’s Safe Environment Office will offer snipets from Virtus

bulletins shared in the last year. Virtus training is a child sex abuse awareness and prevention program that begins with a live training session and continues with monthly bulletins, which are required of all clergy, employees and volunteers of the Archdiocese of Miami.

An Instagram website allows members to digitally edit, upload and share photos and short videos with other members. While entertaining and

fun, be aware that account defaults are set to “public” viewing. This can be manually modified. Additionally images are also “geotagged” by

default, meaning their locations can be tracked. Child molesters have used this technology to locate victims. As technology continues to change

rapidly, all of us charged with protecting children must continue to stay abreast of the new programs and applications that may be used by

predators to manipulate and exploit children.
