The apostles obey Jesus’ commandto spread the good news

rather than the human command to stop. What can I do to be more courageous

in my witness to Christ?Jesus, today I will . . .

Come, Sit With Jesus

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is a special opportunityto sit with Jesus Christ in a more powerful way. We, asCatholics, believe in the true presence of Christ in theEucharist and he is present in the consecrated host withinthe monstrance on the altar. Come, spend an hour with himand see the power of God make a difference in your life.

Holy Souls offers Adoration on Wednesdays from 9am to5:15pm.

“Woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed. Itwould be better for that man if he had never been born”

(Matthew 26:24.)

Two flawed Apostles, two different endings. Peter boastshe’ll always be there for Jesus, denies him three times, and goes on to do amazing things in Jesus’ name, all onthe way to his own martyrdom. Judas betrays Christ andkills himself. Peter believed he would be forgiven; Judasdidn’t. It is important to remember no matter how far fromJesus we might feel, true betrayal comes when we refuseto believe that he is always by our side, ready to help usstart again. He longs to have us walk with him.

Although I have often abandoned you, O Lord, you havenever abandoned me. Your hand of love is alwaysoutstretched toward me, even when I stubbornly look theother way. And your gentle voice constantly calls me, evenwhen I obstinately refuse to listen. St. Teresa of Avila, an excerpt from Living With Christ

No matter what we do, God will always forgive us if we aretruly sorry. We must never lose hope or faith that God lovesus and wants us to be with him. He promises us forgivenessif we forgive. All we need do is pray the Lord’s Prayer, it isspelled out so clearly there. He loves us no matter what butwe do have to live up to what is expected of us. Love God,ourselves and our neighbors. Forgive those that hurt us andask forgiveness. Live a life a service to God’s people and toHim. God calls us to be loving, welcoming, compassionatepeople who believe in Him and want to spend eternity withHim. We can do our best to follow the example that Christset for us. We can use our gifts and talents to help buildthe Kingdom of God.

BaptismsPlease welcome the following newly baptized child of Godinto our church community:

What does it mean to have a Mass “offered” for someone? An individual may ask for a priest to offer a Mass for severalreasons: for example, in thanksgiving, for healing, for theintentions of another person (such as on a birthday, as ismost common, for the repose of the soul of someone whohas died).

When a priest offers Holy Mass, he has three intentions:first, to offer the Mass reverently and validly in accord withthe norms of the Church. Second, to offer the Mass in unionwith the whole Church and for the good of the whole Church.Third, to offer the Mass for a particular intention, such asthe repose of the soul of someone who has died.

When a person asks for a Mass to be offered for a particularintention; usually, a stipend is given to the priest for offeringthe Mass (suggested donation is $10).

When we face the death of someone, even a person who isnot Catholic, to have a Mass offered for the repose of hissoul and to offer our prayers are more beneficial andcomforting than any other sympathy card or bouquet offlowers. To have a Mass offered on the occasion of a birthday, anniversary or special need is appropriate, beneficial andappreciated. Mass cards may be sent to individual or family. To offer a Mass Intention, please contact Cindy in the ChurchOffice at 663-8632 or [email protected].
