Mission Statement Under the protection of the Mother of
God, We are a faith community called by the
Father, energized by the Son, and moved by the
Spirit to unite in witnessing and
proclaiming the Good News. We share in friendship, gather in
worship, and do proclaim our desire to
minister, welcome, celebrate and extend
His Kingdom.

Dear Parishioners,
I want to thank all those who assisted in making our Parish Picnic such a success, in spite
of the weather. It certainly was a family friendly event and showed a great spirit of
camaraderie. There was an entire crew of volunteers who assisted, from bakers, game
supervisors, cooks and others from the various ministries of the Parish. The children enjoyed the horse
ride, the firetruck, the various games, along with the hotdogs and hamburgers. The young at heart
enjoyed Good Humor Ice Cream. As a parish we are called to serve, to pray, to learn and to enjoy life as
a community.
This weekend marks annual Ministry sign-up. Each year we invite parishioners to examine
ministerial involvement at Our Lady of the Woods. As Catholics we are required to share our time, our
talent, and our treasure to build up the Body of Christ. Some are involved in many ministries. Others
find that their work and other commitments make finding time for ministering more challenging. Yet,
most of us can do something. After communion, the ushers will distribute participation cards for you to
fill out. On the back we ask each parishioner to do what they can. We all must center ourselves around
Christ in the Eucharist and in gratitude share what we have received.
Today at the 9:30 Mass we will be honoring and blessing our Catechists and volunteers in our
Religious Education Program. Catechetical Sunday reminds us that we are all called to pass on the faith.
It is especially important for parents to recognize that they are the first teachers in the ways of faith. To
pass on the faith in our families, we must participate in the Sunday Eucharist, pray together as a family,
and teach our children to love God and neighbor.
Immediately following the 9:30 Mass there will be an opportunity for parents of children in our
Religious Education Program to meet their children’s catechists.
Finally, the Novena to the Mother of Sorrows will return after the 8:30am mass this Tuesday,
September 17th. The Novena will take place in the chapel and continue each Tuesday after the 8:30am
mass through November 12th.
