Mission Statement Under the protection of the Mother of God, we
are a faith community called by the Father, energized by the Son, and moved by the Spirit to
unite in witnessing and proclaiming the Good News. We share in friendship, gather in wor-ship, and do proclaim our desire to minister, welcome, celebrate and extend His Kingdom.

Dear Parishioners, On this Saturday, February 15th, we will have a Healing Service here at the Parish at 1:00 PM. This is just another extension of God’s merciful love and it is for anyone who feels burdened. Come know the healing touch of God. This prayer for healing has been well received
in the past. I am in full swing with the work of the Priests’ Placement Board. There are nine of us elected by our peers who advise the Cardinal on the assignments of pastors, newly ordained, and transferring associates. We also assist in the placement of foreign priests coming to live in the Chicago area to study. The number of priests from oversees is dropping for many reasons, including the tightening of immigration requirements. These next few weeks we are especially working on the assignment of pastors. We visit parishes to meet with staffs and people (I have two parishes to visit this month) and we meet weekly at the Quigley Center for conversations. Next month we will make our final recommendations to the Cardinal. This is more complicated with all the various parts of Renew My Church and the merging of parishes. Please keep us in your prayers. The Women’s CRHP Weekend is fast approaching. It is only four weeks away. I would personally like to invite the women of Our Lady of the Woods to come and enjoy this wonderful experience. I would like to challenge the husbands who read this to offer to take over all responsibilities for that weekend. That is a great gift for your wife. One of the challenges that we all face is that we are busy, and if you feel too busy then actually the weekend is for you. Spending time with the Lord and one’s sisters is indeed a gift. I have heard frequently from people who were reluctant to come because of work and family demands and then found that out of the weekend they actually had more love to share. Finally, the new altar and new ambry will be installed this week. These are gifts of Bishop Gorman and the Knights of Columbus. The altar dedication will take place on Sunday, February 23rd at the 11:00 AM Mass. The dedication of an altar is a beautiful ritual and I hope many of you can participate. The Sunday liturgy is “the source and summit” of our faith and it is upon the altar that Jesus Christ becomes visible under the forms of bread and wine. The altar in the Catholic and Orthodox tradition is highly sacred and treated with great respect. The altar will contain relics of the saints to remind us of the unbroken tradition of the church going back to the Last Supper. I am grateful to Bishop Gorman and the Knights of Columbus for their generosity.
In Christ,
Father Mike
