Someone said to me: “I have
problems when I study
the Word. I don’t
remember most of
what I read.” Well, you may
not remember everything you ate for
the past year, but it doesn’t necessarily
mean your body was not being
nourished.
The Poth Knights of
Columbus will host their
Installation Dinner on Sunday,
July 11th at 11:00am at the
Parish Hall. A Beef Ribeye
Steak Dinner with all of the
trimmings will be served.
Please RSVP to Jansky’s
Service Center no later than
July 9th.
The Second Collection for this
Weekend 6/26 – 6/27 will be for
Peter’s Pence Collection.
Church Secretary
Strikes Again. I inadvertently scheduled the
Parish Fundraiser on the same day
that the St. John Lutheran Church
in POTH scheduled their
fundraiser on. Sooooo the
Christian thing to do is move our
Fundraiser to Sunday, August 15th.
I apologize to everyone for the
mixup. In our small community
we must work together.
To God be the Glory!!
FEAST OF FAITH
Preparation of the Gifts
The altar is prepared, the gifts are
received. Several brief rites follow
with accompanying prayers, some
prayed silently by the priest and
deacon and others said aloud. We
call this part of the Mass the
“preparation.” What kind of
preparation is happening? First, the
presider holds up the paten or bowl
containing the hosts, and says
words that Jesus must have said
many times, since they derive from
ancient Jewish meal prayers:
“Blessed are you, Lord God of all
creation!” We have brought
forward our gifts, our offering to
God, and now we acknowledge
that they are not really ours—the
gifts that we give are God’s gift to
us. It is “through your goodness”
that we have gifts to offer. It is
significant that we offer not wheat
and grapes, but bread and wine;
“fruit of the earth and work of
human hands.” Bread and wine are
both God’s work, and ours. These
preparatory rites also prepare us
for what we are about to do in the
Eucharist, a mystery in which
divine and human meet; a holy
collaboration in which our action
is caught up into God’s divine
plan. —Corinna Laughlin, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
Trash Cans Please do not throw dirt and
rocks into the trash cans in the
cemetery. It makes it
impossible to move them to the
curb for pickup.

First Friday Adoration is on
Friday, 7/2. It will begin after the
7:00am Mass and conclude at 1:30pm.
A sign-up sheet can be found on the
bulletin board at the entrance of the
church.
JESUS’ EXAMPLE OF
HELPING OTHERS
In today’s second reading Paul
offers a wonderful argument to his
converts at Corinth for seeking to
help those in need. He is dealing
with a practical problem,
arranging a collection for the poor
of the church of Jerusalem; but as
he often does, he develops an
important teaching about Jesus to
make his point.
After asking that they show their
faith by generous gifts, he reminds
them of the “gracious act of our
Lord Jesus Christ, that though he
was rich, for your sake he became
poor, so that by his poverty you
might become rich” (2 Corinthians
8:9). In the Incarnation our Lord
assumed our human nature,
certainly becoming poor for one
who is God. The ultimate gracious
act of this poverty was going to the
cross with all its terrible
sufferings. By this act of poverty
we definitely become rich. Now
our sins can be forgiven; we can
share in the very life of God
through the sacraments; we can
attain eternal salvation! Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

MEN’S ACTS RETREAT We are planning a men’s Poth ACTS retreat for August 19th through the
22nd. This is an unforgettable opportunity to have a "close encounter" with the Lord, and share the weekend
with a number of like-minded gentlemen interested in serving you, and leading you closer to God. In the past, those
boarding the bus thought: "I do not want to go", but after the retreat, boarding the
bus on the way home thought: "I do not want to leave". Give it a chance. We would
really like for you to join us. Please contact Alan Crosby at (210) 387-8791, or David Pena at (830) 534-8966 to sign
up, or for more information.

UPDATE
Trying something
new. We will have a Silent Online
Auction this year to allow for some additional
opportunities to win some fabulous prizes. For
those who do not have access to a computer or just need help with the online process our
committee members will be available to assist
those who need help. In order for this to
happen though we need donations of items such as what we used for the Bucket Raffle in the past. Items can be dropped off at
the Rectory or if it is a large item a picture of the item can be sent to one of the
committee members or dropped off at the Rectory. Once we get a commitment on a
number of prizes we foresee opening up the Auction a couple of weeks before the
Fundraiser.
Each 10th Ticket Drawn will receive
$100 worth of gift cards/certificates
to various businesses in our
community.
The 100th Ticket Drawn will receive a
$250 gift card.
The 200th Ticket Drawn will receive a
$500 gift card.
The 300th Ticket Drawn will receive a
$750 gift card.
The 400th Ticket Drawn will receive a
$1,500 gift card. The Roast Beef, Sausage, Green Beans,
Potatoes and Cole Slaw meal will be catered by
Outlaw Catering. Desserts will be provided by
Betty Moy. A drive through will be setup to accommodate those who choose to pick up their
plates. No dine in. We will begin the Drawing at 12:00pm. The drawing will be livestreamed
on Facebook for everyone to view from the
comfort of their own homes.
