Our rich story includes collaborative events with choral groups from France and England both here and in their respective countries and performances and music education in Hawaii and New York City. This year, another enriching musical opportunity is in store for our esteemed audience and us. The TBF brings 18th century timeless masterworks especially by Johann Sebastian Bach to life in Georgetown, Austin and Central Texas. Dr. Williamson, our guest conductor, will lead music workshops culminating with our Saturday, April 6th, performance of Rutter’s Requiem. To make this concert even more special, local residents John Rutter’s sister-in-law and her husband have graciously accepted our invitation and will be among our VIP guests. Our immense gratitude goes to Eunice, Pat and Stewart for their teachings and accompaniment, patience, and behind the scenes preparations to ensure we bring our utmost best singing voice forward. This section showcases the amazing singers of our choir. In this edition, Susan Gail, who would make Dolly Parton very proud of her solo rendition of “Jolene”, and Nancy Hupp, who holds a prominent position in the history of our choir as our flute player extraordinaire, both from the Alto section, take us on their fascinating musical and theatrical journeys.

“I as born in New York and have been singing my entire life. I was one of the three little maids in the Mikado on my sixth grade graduation!

Music has always been the underlying pulse of my life. I studied voice throughout my early life, starting in NYC, excelling at the New York State Regional Music Society with consistent straight A ratings. I attended college at SUNY: Oswego and was the only freshman in Swing Sixteen that performed at Carnegie Hall.

My passion was theater and that led to staring roles in New Jersey’s premiere Regional theater, Theater by the Lake. There I was Vera Charles in “Mame”, and Aldonza in “Man of La Mancha”. Until Pacificaires solos, that was the crowning achievement of my singing life.

I was a sought after vocalist in many commercial voice-overs and performed in local clubs and piano bars for many years.

I spent six years singing in the alto section of the choir at Temple Solel in Cardiff by the Sea. I was also a frequent guest performer at the exclusive spa, Rancho La Puerta.

For three years, I was a featured soloist and choir member of The Pacificaires. In 2014 I was the soloist in My Heart Will Go On and in 2015 the soloist in Let It Go with my granddaughter, Mikayla. Now that was amazing!!

I was thrilled to return to Pacificaires after over 3 years. My precious husband was very sick and I had to move up North to take care of him. He died 8 months ago and coming back has been a gift and a necessity. This group lifts my soul and pushes me to new heights. I was welcomed back with open arms and lots of hugs. I am grateful every time we sing. What a treat it will be to sing a solo in “Jolene” with the women in the Spring Concert. This has certainly been Dolly Parton’s year of amazing recognition.”

The transcendent nature of conducting according to Joseph Flummerfelt: “I do long for those moments where everything is in place, where everything is flowing, and then the real truth comes from the source – whatever that is: God, the creative impulse, it doesn’t mater what you call it. And suddenly, things happen, which you couldn’t have planned. Real beauty is being created because all of the forces are perfectly lined up and a profound innermost connection is manifested. Joseph Flummerfelt (1937-2019), American choral master, Grammy winner, educator, arranger and artistic visionary.
