CUBOREE PACKING LIST

INTRODUCTION This document outlines the basic requirements your Cub Scout will need to ensure they are suitably attired whilst attending Cuboree. SUITCASE/BACK PACK SIZE It is recommended that one camp suitcase and back pack be taken per Cub Scout and limited to approximately 60 litres for the luggage. To work out the size of a bag you should calculate the cubic volume of the bag intended to transport: To calculate the volume using length x width x height: e.g.: 1.88m x .6m x .6m = .6768 which is approx 67 litres.

UNIFORM Cuboree Pack Shirt, Woggle & Scarf Cub Scouts attending Cuboree will receive a Cuboree Pack approximately three (3) weeks prior to Cuboree commencing. The pack will include a Cuboree Shirt, Cuboree Hat, Cuboree Scarf, Cuboree Woggle, Cuboree Event Badge and a set of Cuboree Camp Badges. Cub Scouts will be required to wear their Cuboree Shirt to and from Cuboree with Woggle and Scarf. Cub Scout Uniform Cub Scouts will not be required to wear or bring their normal Cub Scout Uniform to and from Cuboree.

BEDDING Mattresses With some Cub Scouts travelling by bus to the event, there will be restrictions on the size of bedding to ensure luggage can be accommodated. But for the individual travellers there is still restrictions in place to remain consistency and fairness to all. Additionally, come bedding setups can cause damage to the tent floors and walls. Cuboree Executive Committee is placing the following restrictions on allowing bedding and sizes:

• Single self-inflating mattress • Single blow up mattress (size: 188cm x 75cm x 24cm)

Cub Scouts need to be able to set up and pack up their own bedding.

§ Stretcher beds are not suitable for this event and should not be taken. § If taking a blow up mattress, please ensure that a pump is included.

Sleeping Bag The nights at Cuboree may drop to below 15 degrees; a sleeping bag to +5 degrees should be adequate for this event. Silk sleeping bag inserts are optional liners to assist in keeping warm. Camp Blanket We encourage Cub Scouts to bring their Camp blankets to show case their badges and to use in case extra warmth is required but please make sure they are named. MEDICATION Any medication accompanying anyone attending Cuboree must be:

• Provided in a clear plastic (zip lock) bag clearly marked with the name of the person the medication belongs to,

• Clearly written instructions or medical treatment plans. o Examples of a medical treatment plan to treat a case of asthma:

§ Self-administer 2 puffs from inhaler as needed. § Ensure 2 inhaler puffs are taken before meals and prior to bedtime.

o Medical Treatment plans are always provided from Doctors in consultation with patients and/or parents. If providing, please provide the treatment plan with the doctors contact details.

During the Bus trip all medication will be held by the respective Pack Leaders on the buses. No person should have any non-prescribed medication in bags – such as Panadol, hay fever tablets, cold and flu tablets or cough drops. These should all be considered medication and be provided to leaders upon arrival with details. Self-administering of Asthma inhalers will be returned after Welfare and Sub Camp Pack Leaders have sighted the medication and any clear instructions advising that this is permitted. PACKING TIPS It is recommended that to assist in packing and helping Cub Scouts get ready for the day, to pack each days clothing in a separate zip lock bag. This will assist in getting ready for showers and not having to lose clothing as they can put the dirty clothes back in the bag at days end or after showering and changing. Please ensure all clothing, bedding, and loose items are labelled to assist in returning lost property. Any unclaimed items at the end of Cuboree will be donated to a charitable organisation. DAY PACK (TO CUBOREE) Please provide your Cub Scout with a Day Pack for the journey to Cuboree. Food stops will NOT be provided along the way, but we do recognise that some Cub Scouts may require snacks or have conditions that require special diets, so we suggest packing a water bottle and
