Ok, lets begin.Good morning everyone. My name is Enrique Pardo. I am a student at Murcia School of Arts and today I am going to talk about the photographer CARLOS MOISES GARCA.

CARLOS MOISS GARCIA2

I have chosen to speak about Carlos Moises because he is my main referent in landscape and nature photography and I love his photographs and his way to see the nature and life. What I want to do today is to give you a general overview of his life and work.

51. BIOGRAHPY

Ok, lets start with his biography.

6

He was born in Vigo, in Nineteen Fifty-six but in nineteen sixty-three 1963 his family moved to Murcia.

In his youth he was known for his love of sports such as mountain climbing swimming and basketball. He has climbed mountains in Spain, USA and Mexico.

He began his adult life as an entrepreneur in the automobile company of his family, where he worked as a director for several years. But one day he decided to devote himself to nature photography

For forty years he lived exclusively from his photographic books and his work as a landscape and nature photographer .He created his own publishing company called DARANA with his wife, Paloma Zamora, who did the graphic design of all books

10

While he devoted himself to photography, he was formed in yoga, meditation and spirituality. In two thousand eight he became a spiritual guru and left everything he had to dedicate himself to travel around the world teaching yoga and meditation.

11

Nowadays he continues traveling around the world. I you search her name on Google you will find this. There is no information about his photographic work on the internet because he left photography before the digital boom.

Thats all I would like to say about his biography.

122. WORK

Now that we know something about his life, lets see his work.

13

As I said, most of his work is focused on nature and landscape photography. He devoted himself to create photographic books about the places he loved, mainly Murcia, Canary Islands and the Pyrenees. He made more than twenty books during his photographic career.

14

He made all the books in collaboration with writers and sometimes other photographers, for example Paco Nadal

Those on the top are about Canary Islands and those on the bottom are about the Pyrenees

My favourite are Las Islas Canarias and Pirineos I have brought them here so you can have a look at them.

15

Here you have are some of the photos I like and that define his style.

16

17

I particularly like those that fill the whole frame

18

And this one is my favorite, i have it in my bedroom

19

Sorry for the quality of the pictures but I had to photograph their books because these pictures do not still exist in digital format

20

And these are some books of the extensive library he has.

21

Here you are a little video of Carlos speaking about himself and his work.

26ANECDOTES

There are some curious anecdotes about Carlos Moiss. For example:

27

How much money do you think he spent on photographic equipment? About one hundred thousand euros

28

About one hundred thousand euros

29

How many kilos did he carry in his backpack?

30

around forty 40 kilograms, including almost one hundred and fifty colour filters to get the best possible real light.

31

He made trips of two weeks to the Pyrenees where he was completely alone

32

He was the master of Joaqun Zamora, the author of the photographs that you can find all around the Murcia in the rubbish bins and the huge billboards in Platera.

Carlos donated a lot of photographic equipment to Murcia School of Arts.

34CONCLUSION

I think that Carlos Moiss is an example to follow as a photographer and as a person.First of all he gave up a secure and well-paid job to do what he really loved, take pictures of the world; and after that he left all the things he had in his life to search the spirituality and the true sense of life.Thank you very much for your attention. Now, if you have any comments or questions I will be delighted to answer them.
