CaseyHer story of success with St. Luke's Outpatient Cardiac & Pulmonary program is one she hopes brings awareness to others who think heart disease can't happen to them.
Her BackgroundCasey, aged 35, never thought the sweating or arm numbness was a heart attack until it felt like someone was sitting on her chest, she says. Casey says. "I want others--women--to talk with their doctors, listen to their bodies and take symptoms seriously."
Her Experience & SuccessOnce at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, the health care team discovered she was having a heart attack and took immediate care of her. "My doctor recommended St. Luke's," she says.
Casey came to St. Luke's outpatient program three times a week for three months, receiving heart education, monitored exercise routines, heart disease prevention and management and support from therapists, dietitians and other patients enrolled in the program.
"My warning signs aren't going to be the same as others," Casey says. "Don't shrug it off when you think something is wrong, even at a young age. It's better to be safe."
Making a difference.
When you're at St. Luke's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, therapists work very closely with your cardiologist. And I just adored everyone there. I was really sad when my time was done.
