People need people,
To walk to
To talk to
To cry and rely on,
People will always need people.
To love and to miss
To hug and to kiss,
It’s useful to have other people.
To whom to moan
If you’re all alone,
It’s so hard to share
When no one is there.
There’s not much to do
When there’s no one but you.
People will always need people.
To please
To tease
To put you at ease,
People will always need people.
To make life appealing
And give life some meaning,
It’s useful to have other people.
It you need a change
To whom will you turn.
If you need a lesson
From whom will you learn.
If you need to play
You’ll know why I say
People will always need people.
As girlfriends
As boyfriends
From Bombay
To Ostend,
People will always need people-
To have friendly fights with
And share tasty bites with,
It’s useful to have other people.
People live in families
Gangs, posses and packs,
Its seems we need company
Before we relax,
So stop making enemies
And let’s face the facts,
People will always need people,
Yes
People will always need people.
People will always need people

Alexandra De Olano Corbero (Alexia) feeling very motivated and enthused working from home, in the sunshine. She has developed a particular love for Sociology since being at CATS College, where she has developed a new love of learning and dedication to her studies, thanks to all of the support and help from her Teachers.

My experience at CATS College was interesting. I got to meet new people and made friends easily . Everywhere was really close, by which made things convenient. CATS College was also close to the town centre, where I could go buy things and hang out with friends.

Following my graduation from A-Level in CATS Canterbury in 2021, I plan to the University of
Cambridge to study Natural Sciences and specialize in Chemistry. I eventually would like to be able to
work towards a PhD in Chemistry there.
My future career is to be an energy scientist. I will be researching potential energy resources for
the future. Some of my ideas are algal biomass, hydrogen fuel, and artificial photosynthesis. I have a
burning ambition to compete for the Earthshot Prize - ‘an ambitious set of challenges to inspire a
decade of action to repair the planet’, created by Prince William.
The experience of online learning during the pandemic has taught me as an individual to be more
flexible and industrious in long-term unexpected situations, since I was not familiar with Zoom classes
and Moodle. But four months on, I think I have mastered the art of online learning. This adaptation
has required all of my efforts in order to maintain my studies to the same personal expectations I had
before Lockdown.
Beside the academic challenges, I have a greater appreciation for my family since the pandem-
ic has changed the relationship dynamics. As an adolescent myself, I had once preferred to connect
with others as mutual friends, but now it is inconvenient for me , due to logistics and plus, it was
time-consuming. This is why family is very important to me. Spending time with them has given me
the enjoyment everyone needs once in a while, especially after a very busy day in Zoom classes.
Therefore, it is vital to cherish these moments while they last, since the benefits will last me forever.

Everyone has their own dream. When I was a child, I used to look up at
the sky at night, and imagine what would happen if humans did not exist.
Or are there any aliens on the M78 Nebula? Will they save the earth from
worldwide disaster? Or will they invade and destroy everyone with one
single blast of their sophisticated weapons?
The universe is full of challenges. Some of them might lead to
great changes, or solve many mysteries. Some difficult questions
have confused people for centuries. For example, who created humans?
Can philosophy ever disappear? Can the observer effect change
the result of a double—slit interference experiment?
Are humans really important to this world, which is so full of
uncertainties?
My adventure is to solve these mysteries. Our life won’t stay the same.
Situations change every single day, every single second.
So don’t worry about anything that might happen. If it really happens, do
not complain. Just embrace it. Life might not change, but your mind
can.

Although my time at CATS was short-lived, I was able to meet some incredible people and forge many unforgettable memories. The little things like waiting for each other in the mornings at our dorm before leaving for breakfast and movie nights with friends are just a small part of what makes my time here even more memorable. The teachers and staffs here are amazing as well. They are incredibly supportive and will always be there to help me out. I’d say my biggest takeaway from being at CATS is learning to manage my time well. I've learnt the importance of balancing my time between having fun and completing school work. With good time management, it is still possible to have as much time to hangout with my friends and have fun whilst still meeting deadlines and revising for tests and exams. It is a shame that it all had to come to an end so quickly but I will forever be grateful for the experience and friendships I made whilst I was
here. Goodbye CATS.” - Jing Ru Teng (Janelle)

I strongly believe that friendships are fundamental in life,
especially in our experience away from home. Here in this photo, I
remember that outside was very cold, so I prepared a chocolate
cake after the end of lessons. - Luigi Caccavale

I will be studying Pharmacy at university in September. During my study in CATS College Canterbury, I have learnt a lot of fundamental skills that would help me study better and therefore achieve better results. These are the skills I will carry to university which will help me in the pursuit of my future career.

Remember, Woman, you were
born
life giver, miracle creator, magic
maker.
You were born the teller of your
own tale,
before none should you kneel.
You were born with an immeasura-
ble soul
reaching out past infinity.
You were born to desire with pas-
sion, abandon,
and to name your own destiny.
Remember, Woman, remember
you are more than you can see.
Remember, Woman, remember
you are loved endlessly.
Remember, Woman, your power,
and grace,
the depth of your deep sea heart.
Never forget you are Woman,
divine,
as you have been from the start.

I took this photograph at Hong Kong International Airport after 13 hours flight from the UK. Because of the boarding policy, I could not leave Hong Kong, so I stayed at the airport for the whole night without any sleep. In this case, I had to book another flight in the next day. Albeit having a terrible time, I learnt to be tough over the hard time.

One of My Many Challenges
Last May, I set myself a 30-day challenge with no supervision from anybody. My challenge was to
get up at 8:30 every morning, which seemed easy for an in-school student. My month of May had gone
with pain at first and then calmness and relaxation in the end.
To be more specific, for the total 30 days, I only succeeded at getting up at 8:30 only for only five
days, on the 2nd, 5th, 10th, 13th and 16th. The data illustrates that I had failed 83.33% of my target. It made
fall into deep contemplation: Why did I fail on a goal which seemed achievable?
I listed following reasons:
I went to bed too late every day, that is, so I couldn’t obtain eight hours of sleep per day which directly
lead to my getting up late the next day.
If I had got up promptly, I was likely to have fallen asleep again.
On the weekdays that I had online lessons, I was more likely to have got up late. For this reason I found
myself without energy the rest of the day.
And I recalled the mental states when I was able to get up on time:
I had the tutoring class in the morning, so I had to get up early.
I had a nightmares.
The time I spent in bed made me feel exhausted, which tempted me to get up to stay in a better
environment.
I promised somebody other than myself to get up early.
To conclude, I made the important bullet points that would aspire me to get up early:
Sleep before 11 p.m., I was able to get up on time automatically as I had gained enough sleeping time.
Organize some tasks in the morning, so I had to get up on time.
Ask someone who always got up early to wake me up.
I believed for the next time when I have to challenge myself for the purpose of getting up at 8:30 I
will be able to succeed. Amen. ———- Xuanjing Wang (Molla)

CATS Canterbury was a really safe and calm place. The first time I came to CATS, I was a bit nervous because I didn’t start with the September students. I thought it would be hard to make friends but on my first day, I made new friends and as the days went by, their numbers increased. The lessons at CATS college were very interesting and all my teachers are so helpful and
kind. I have enjoyed my stay at CATS College. —Ulrike Tari-Best

Early Days: I took these photos of the town centre, when my friends and I were searching for a Chinese restaurant… - Zixun Huang (Albert)
Courage Forever
What we do, let's do with boldness; What we know, let's speak for aye! And respect naught for its oldness
If it be not right to-day.
What is right, with will is power; Truth is truth, and must prevail; And true courage for an hour
Often is of great avail.
Naught is gained by coward groaning Under each mishap and ill;
Give us men not always moaning— Men of nerve and iron will.
Firmly stand to Freedom's calling, Battling to defend the right—
Fainting not though scenes appalling Startle others timid sight.

“You enter the forest
at the darkest point,
where there is no path.
Where there is a way or path,
it is someone else's path.
You are not on your own path.
If you follow someone else's way,
you are not going to realize
your potential.
