Introduction

My client’s name is Amanda Rodriguez and she is 17 years old. She is a full time student, freshman, attending San Francisco State University. Since Amanda attends school in San Francisco, CA, she lives there with a couple roommates in an apartment. My client is originally from Simi Valley, CA and has been having trouble dressing for the climate change. Northern California (San Francisco) is cloudy and cold 80% of the year, while Southern California (Simi Valley) is warm with medium to high temperatures all throughout the year. Amanda has grown up in Southern California and it has been a difficult transition for her wardrobe, since she is accustomed to purchasing clothing for Southern California weather. Amanda is an introvert, which, means she is quiet at first but once you get to know her she is outgoing, fun and loud. Her personality is social and she enjoys having a great amount of friends. She is interested in music, dance, clothing, and working out. Amanda lives a very healthy and basic lifestyle; with attending activities such as yoga, hiking, and running. She loves the outdoors and is a big animal lover. My client’s clothing style is also very basic and matches with her lifestyle. She prefers to wear darker colors, and very basic items with minimal jewelry. Amanda also wishes to “project a confident, stylish image while being warm in the rain.” (Amanda Rodriguez)

Amanda’s Closet

2A ArrangementWhen looking at Amanda’s closet, I am able to see that my client wears

minimal jewelry, she feels most comfortable wearing sneakers, and has minimal colors in her closet. I am able to see that Amanda has a very simple style and she plays with the cuts and styles she is already comfortable with wearing. She has a large amount of sneakers and chooses to pick dramatic colors and prints when purchasing her sneakers. My client is comfortable in wearing basics and making it her own. I can also see that when my client does decide to wear jewelry, she wears only rings or very thin necklaces and bracelets.

2B Order of Clothing in Closet By looking at my client’s closet, I am able to see that she chooses to organize

her closet for practicality. Amanda display’s her boots and sneakers together in the back row and then her dress shoes; i.e. heels and platforms in the front row. This way all her shoes are visible and easy to reach. If she can’t find something in her closet, she will not wear it. Her closet displays how all her sweaters are knitted and lightweight because she is accustomed to wearing lighter fabrics in Southern California.

2C Lines/Colors/TexturesIn Amanda’s closet, I can see that she prefers to wear very basic colors such

as: neutral, black and white. I can also see that my client prefers to wear darker colors and shades of colors. The patterns in her closet are very simple, such as plaids, checkered fabrics, or stripes. The images show me how my client prefers lightweight garments with some bulkier jackets. Amanda also has many of the same textures and shapes in her closet.

2D Creative IndividualI believe my client is a creative individual, because she tends to follow

trending styles but likes to make it her own. Amanda is dresses casual, but makes her outfits look fashion forward. She enjoys shopping at stores such as, American Apparel, Zara, Lululemon Athletica, Active, and the Vans store. She mixes between these styles and mixes casual pieces with dressier pieces at times.

2E Impulse BuyerI believe that my client is an impulse buyer because she many similar, if not

the same, items in her closet. I can also see that when shopping, she shops for the same colors and lengths and cuts of clothing. Amanda has a wide variety of sneakers and is an impulse buyer when she sees a color or pattern of a sneaker she likes. Even though Amanda already has five pairs of sneakers, she believes she will be able to make more outfits with new sneakers.

2F Activities/LifestyleIt is shown through Amanda’s closet that she prefers to look comfortable in

her clothes. Her lifestyle is very calm and relaxing and enjoys going outdoors. Amanda chooses to wear sneakers because of this, and makes her outfits fashion forward by selecting a trending pattern. Since Amanda lives in San Francisco, she has trouble dressing for the cold but still looking fashion forward. I can tell by her closet that she lives somewhere with colder weather, because the only garments hanging are long sleeves and winter jackets.

2G Attitudes/ ValuesAmanda believes that when she dresses it is a way of expressing how she is

feeling for that day, and also believes it expresses her self. My client likes to view E’s Kylie Jenner, and Disney Channel’s Star/Model/ Dancer Zendaya Coleman, both as her fashion icons. She likes to get inspiration for her clothing from these celebrities and has a fashion style that resembles theirs.

3A Three adjectives that embody the way Amanda acts are:

1. Outgoing: Even though my client is an introvert she still has an outgoing personality when she gets comfortable with others. Amanda is currently in a sorority as a freshman and was able to be selected because of her outgoing personality. My client was also on her high school Dance Team and Cheer Team and has never been shy in front of others.

2. Direct: Amanda is a Sagittarius (Zodiac sign) and the characteristic of being “blunt”, or direct, derives from being a Sagittarius. My client tells it how it is; most situations for her are black and white and there is no gray area for her. Sometimes this can be an asset to have since my client is just being honest, but also this trait may come off in the wrong way towards others.

3. Independent: My client is extremely independent, being that she moved to San Francisco, for college, all by herself at the age of 17. My client likes to do things her own way and does not like to ask others for advice. She is able to handle her own issues and mistakes and never asks for help if she needs any.

3B Primary and Secondary Fashion Personality Type

Primary Fashion Personality Type:Amanda’s primary personality type falls under Casual. Amanda has a Casual

Fashion Personality because she dresses in simple shapes and patterns. The colors she regularly wears are neutral or if she does were color it is either dark shades or toned-down colors. My client also resembles to this personality type because she wears minimal accessories and embellishments on her garments. Amanda does wear high heels at times, but only for special occasions or to go out. Amanda sticks to basic pieces that make her feel comfortable. She follows trends but likes to make it into her own style.

Secondary Fashion Personality Type:My client’s secondary fashion personality type falls under Natural. This is

because my client dresses for comfort and likes to wear breathable fabrics. My client wears very little make up and only wears visible makeup for a special occasion. Since my client’s second fashion personality is Natural, she is able to wear retro, funky patterns and still appear fashion forward and effortless.

3C Yin/Yang Continuum

Personality Traits: My client is an extreme yang because she falls on the “assertive” side of the continuum. Amanda has yang personality traits such as: independent, firm, realistic, and direct. My client has only one or two characteristics falling under the Yin side, and this is why she leans more towards the Yang side.

Physical Traits: My client is average height and is small boned and falls right in between the Yin/Yang continuum.

My client’s body type is an inverted triangle because her shoulders are broader than her hips and her bust line is greater than the rest of her body. This also applies to

my client’s backside. Her figure silhouette can be described as a mesomorph because she has an athletic body with a minimal amount of body fat.

4B-F Body Proportions

In the above proportions, we are able to see that my client is less than eight head lengths. She measures to be 7 head lengths and is 5’4, which means she is short. My client’s head length is also considered to be long since it measures less than 8 head lengths. According to the diagram beside this portrait, Amanda’s upper torso is in proportion because it is exactly 2 head lengths long. In order for her rise to be in proportion, the measurement from her waist to her crotch is meant to be one head length. The measurement from her waist to crotch is exactly one head length which makes her rise be in proportion. In order for her body to have proportional legs they must measure to be 4 head lengths tall. Since her legs are 4 head lengths tall from her crotch to her feet, her legs in proportion with the rest of her body. My client would like to deemphasize the area in her the back of her arms, the area near her armpits. And she would like to emphasize her calves, stomach and back.

Amanda’s basic face shape is an oval shape because her face resembles the shape of an egg and the width of her jaw and forehead appear to be the same width. I also think the line movement and direction of her face is curved vertical.

5C Facial Features

Amanda’s eyes are perfectly spread apart and are also sitting normally on her face. It appears that one eye closes more when she smiles and one of her eyebrows is raised as well. My client’s eyebrows are curved at the ends but move in a horizontal direction at first. Her nose is wide and round, and also lifts a small amount upwards. Both of her lips are significantly full, but her lower lip is fuller than her top lip. It is visible that my client’s hairline stands straight. Amanda’s chin line is slightly receding when viewing the side picture. Her neck appears to be thin and short.

5D Good Side

My client believes that her good side is her right side. This is because she feels that taking pictures on her right side deemphasizes her nose and makes it look slimmer. She also believes that taking pictures on the right side benefits her features because that is the side she parts her hair.

Color6A Color Temperature and Season

Amanda is a cool winter, meaning that my client uses cool colors in her wardrobe

and dresses with winter, the season, colors. Cool colors are all based off blue, green

and violet. The colors outlined on the color wheel in red display the colors that

resemble with Amanda’s wardrobe. These colors can be found in her color stick

shown on the next page.

6B-C Personal Coloring

My client’s personal coloring was determined by her hair and skin color. Her hair coloring consists of an ash brown/black color. Her skin tone resembles cool tones and her veins underneath her neck and along her wrist appear to be blue. Her skin tone does have a hint of olive to it because of her ethnicity. Amanda’s eyes resemble a cool coloring because they are a solid dark brown color. The colors in Amanda’s color stick all fall underneath the cool winter colors and are colors that she feels comfortable wearing. The neutrals are to complement the colors she wears. Amanda mostly wears basic colors, and she owns a great amount of neutrals in her closet.

Business Wardrobe Look 1

I chose this outfit for Amanda because the colors fall under her color stick and the

grey will complement her hemoglobin. I chose the stockings and leather jacket for

this outfit because I believe that this would make her outfit warmer for the Northern

California Weather. Also Amanda wanted to emphasize her calves and deemphasize

her arms. This outfit both hides the back of her arms, and it also shows off her

calves. I paired the mint green bag with this outfit to add some color.

Business Wardrobe Look 2

I chose this outfit for my client because the flats are comfortable to move around

and work in, and they are also warm and appropriate for work. The stockings are

added to this outfit to warm her legs up. I also paired a trench coat with this outfit

because it is professional and warm. The skirt I selected to go with this outfit is high

wasted and will compliment her small waist.

Business Wardrobe Look 3

I choose this outfit for Amanda because the ensemble includes dress pants, which

are not only appropriate for work, but also warm for the weather. The slacks are

also high waisted, which will elongate her legs. I chose a delicate necklace that will

hit her second balance point and fit nicely with the top. I also chose the flats to pair

with this outfit because they are appropriate for work and they are also

comfortable.

Business Wardrobe Look 4

I chose this outfit for Amanda because it is all black and it is her favorite color to

wear. I also selected a scarf to go with this outfit in order for her to keep warm. I

selected closed toed booties with a small heel to give her comfort. Also the burgundy

in the shoes is in her color stick and will compliment her physical features. I paired

these bangles with her outfit because they are delicate and small and she is able to

choose how many she wishes to wear.

Casual Wardrobe Look 1

For the first casual look I made sure to embody her style with comfort. The fur vest

is warm and a great fashion statement piece and flows well with this outfit. I chose

the black flannel to be tied around her waist in case she gets cold and it is also

trending. The boots have a minimal heel but are overall comfortable. The beige color

in the vest compliments her eyes.

Casual Wardrobe Look 2

I selected this outfit for Amanda because the timberlands are her style and are also

comfortable and warm. I decided to pair an oversized denim jacket to add some

more layers as well as warmth. The flannel would be underneath the denim jacket to

add print to her ensemble. This look is easy, effortless and fashion forward.

Casual Wardrobe Look 3

I chose this outfit for Amanda because the burgundy in the flannel jacket will

complement the melanin in her skin tone. I paired this dress because it is basic and

easy to wear. I also paired Timberland rain boots for the cold weather. The dress

will also show off her legs, specifically her calves, which is what she wanted to

emphasize. I only selected one pattern when dressing her, since she does not wear

many patterns.

Evening Wardrobe Look 1

I selected this look for my client because the pattern is fun and funky and is

something she would sprinkle into her wardrobe. I chose the pineapple print to

dress her around. The leather jacket does not have any shoulder pads, which will

make her body look less of an inverted triangle. The shorts are high waisted and will

make her waist look smaller. I paired the stockings again with this outfit because I

feel that it will keep my client warm in the Northern Californian weather.

Evening Wardrobe Look 2

I chose this evening look for my client because it has the burgundy to pink color that

will complement Amanda’s hemoglobin in her skin tone. The booties are a great

piece for this outfit because they have a platform, which makes them more

comfortable to wear out. They are also closed toed, and are paired with leggings,

which will be warm and fashion forward. The jacket is oversized and is easy to take

on and off; it is a comfortable and warm garment.

Evening Wardrobe Look 3

I selected this last evening outfit because again it is black and is a basic color that my

client absolutely loves. I paired this outfit with a pair of burgundy booties to add

some color. This burgundy is also present in my client’s personal coloring. The

booties have a small heel, which makes them more comfortable to walk in. I also

paired this outfit with a black fur jacket because it is trending right now and is also

great for the cold weather.
