Welcome to Planet Textiles 2017Welcome to Planet Textiles which makes its debut in India this year in partnership with MCL News & Mediaand The Sustainable Apparel Coalition.

The event was first launched in Hong Kong in 2009 and has always been a very topical, news-led event, whichaims to find practical solutions to tackle the crucial issues of the day when it comes to environmental problemsand social compliance in the global textile supply chain.

Water use, availability, pollution and wastewater treatment are the main areas we will cover this year, sodelegates in Bangalore can expect to hear about new solutions from leading brands, retailers, NGO’s, textilemanufacturers and associated suppliers about how we can actually implement change within our sector.

The key now for tangible movement in our sector is all about implementation. Over the past decade ourindustry has developed a range of new tools and new initiatives to tackle environmental problems and howthey impact local communities – but now is the time to start scaling up change across whole supply chains.

In addition to water use, Planet Textiles 2017 looks at new initiatives on the circular economy and we aredelighted to have Indian government representation in the form Dr Kavita Gupta – India’s Textile Commis-sioner – who will give the opening plenary talk.

This event would not be taking place without the support of key individuals such as Jason Kibbey and his teamat the Sustainable Apparel Coalition which has put in so much hard-work and dedication in the lead up to thisevent. A special thanks also goes out to Paula Jones at MCL who many of you will have already been in touchwith, and who has spent months making sure that everyone will have a rewarding experience today.

Of course, we wouldn’t be able to put on this event without our sponsors and especially our Event PartnerLenzing, our Lunch Sponsor Covestro, the ZDHC Group, Oeko-Tex and Archroma, and evening receptionsponsor Bureau Veritas, along with all our other partners whose logos appear on the next page.

A big thanks to our speakers for taking the time out to make Planet Textiles 2017 such a wonderfully broadand stimulating event in terms of content – and especially our session moderators who have worked so hardbehind the scenes.

We’d also like to thank all you delegates for taking the time, trouble and interest to come to Bangalore and tohopefully go back to your companies and continue to champion responsible change in our industry.

We hope you will strongly support those exhibitor companies here at Planet Textiles that offer real-worldsolutions to help the environment and to implement social change in the global textile supply chain.

It’s a long road and a tough challenge to change the way an established global industry works, but it’s clear tome that the continued growth and success of events such as Planet Textiles is not only extremely encouragingfor our industry – and the people like you who are dedicated to changing the way the textile industry works –but more importantly, they are absolutely vital for the future health of Our Planet.

Thanks for your support.
