FUEL HANDLING

Fuel mixture

NOTE!

The machine is fitted with a two-strok_ engine and must

ahvays be run on a mixture of petrol and two stroke oil. It isimportant to measure the quantity ofoil accurately, to ensurethe correct mixrure ratio, Small discrepancies in the amount ofoil have a great bearing on the proportions of the fuel mixture

when mixing small amounts of fuel.

I _ WARNING!Always provide good ventilation whenhandling fuel.

Petrol

NOTE!

Always use an oil-mixedquality petrol (at least 90

octane). If your machine isequipped with a catalyticconverteJ; (Jee "technicaldata") an unleaded, oil

mixed quality petrolshould always be used. A

leaded petrol will destroy

the catalytic converter

• The lowestrecommended octane

rating is 90. If you run

the engine on a petrolwith a lower octane

rating than 90 so-called"knocking" can occur. This leads to an

increased engi ne

temperature, which canresult in a serious enginebreakdown.

• When working atcontinuous higln revs ahigher octane raring isrecommended.

Two-stroke oil

• For the best results use two-stroke oil, which has been

specially produced i_r clearing saws and chain saws,

Mixing ratio 1:50 (2%). ISO-L-EGD (180/(20 13738)

• Never use two-stroke oil intended for water cooled outboard

motors, so-called outboard motor eli.

• Never use oil intended of four-stroke engines,

Mixture

• Always mix petrol and eli in a clean container intended forpetrol.

• Ahvays start by filling half the quantity of petrol required.

Then add the entire oil quantity. Mix (shake) the fuelmixture. Fil! the remaining quantity of petrol.

• Mix (shake) the fuel mixture carefully before filling in tilemachine's fuel tank.

• Do not mix more than max. one month's supply of fuel.

• If the lnachine is trot used for a long period o17time, the fueltank should be emptied and cleaned.

_ ARNINGtThe catalytic converter muffler gets very hotduring and after use. This also appliesduring idling. Be aware of the fire hazard, especially when handling the saw nearflammable substances or vapours.

Fuelling

WARNINGt

The following precautions reduce the riskof fire:

Do not smoke or place any sources of heatin the vicinity of the fuel. Never refuelwhen the engine is running. Always stopthe engine and let it cool for a few minutesbefore refuelling. Open the fuel cap slowlywhen fuelling so that any over pressure is

released slowly. Tighten the fuel capcarefully after refuelling. Always move themachine from the fuelling place beforestarting.

• Clean around the fiwl

cap. Contamination inthe tank can disruptoperations.

• Ensure that the fuel is

well mixed by shaking thecontainer before tiltingthe tank.

START AND STOP

Start and stop

WARNING!

Always move the machine from the fillingarea before starting. Place the machine ona flat surface. Make sure no unauthorised

persons are in the working area, otherwise there is a risk of serious

personal injury. The safety distance is 10metres.

Cold engineIGNITION:

Set the stop switch to thestart position.CHOKE:Set the choke control in the

choke position.AIR PURGE:

Press tile air pmgediaphragm repeatedly until

fuel begins to fill thediaphragm. The diaphragmneed no_ be completelyfilled.

Warm engine

Use the same startingprocedure as for the coldengine, but do not set thechoke control in tile choke

position. The start throttleposition is obtained bysetting the choke contrnI in

tbe choke position and thenreturning it to its originalposition.

Stop

The engine is stopped byswitching off"the ignition.

Start

Press the machine bodyagainst the ground usingyour left hand (NOTE! Notyour foot). Grip the starter

handle, slowly pull out thecord with your right handuntil you feel some

resistance (the starter pawlsgrip), now quickly andpowerfully pull the cord.Reset the choke control as

soon as the engine fires andrepeat until the engine starts. When the engine starts

quickly apply fllll throttleand the start throttle will

automatically disengage.

NOTE! Do not puil thestarter cord out completelyand do not release the starter

cord from the fnlly extended

position. This can darnagethe machine.

MAINTENANCE

CarburettorYour product has been designed and manuihctured

to specifications that reduce harmful emissions.

After your unit has been run 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine

has broken in. 'lib ensure that your unit is at peak

performance and producing the least amount of harmfulemissions after break in, have your authorized servicing

dealer, who has a revolution counter at his disposal, to adjust

your carburettor for optimum operating conditions.

//_ WARNINGtThe machine must only be started as a

complete unit. If the machine is startedwithout all the covers fitted there is a risk

of personal injury.

Operation

• The carburettor governsthe engine's speed via thethrottle. Air/fuel is mixedin the carburettor. Theair/{uel mixture is

adjustable. To take

advantage o_'the engine'soptimal output theadjustment must becorrect.

• The setting of thee_trburertor means that

the engine is adapted tolocal conditions, for

example, the climate,

altitude, petrol and thetype of 2-st_:oke oil.

Basic setting• The carbureetor is set to its basic setting when test run at the

l]_ctoU. The basic setting is richer than the optimal settingand should be kept during the machine's first workinghours. Thereafter the earburertor should be finely adjusted.

Fine adjustment should be carried out by a skilledtechnician.

Fine adjustment• When the machine has been "run-in" the carburettor should

be finely adjusted. The fine adjustment should be carried

out by qualified person. First adjust the L-jet, then theidling screw "l' and then the H-jet.

Conditions

• Before any adjustmems are made the ah:filter should be cleanand the airfilter cover fitted. Adjusting the earburettor whilea dirty airfilter is in use will result in a leaner mixture when

the filter is finally cleaned. This can give rise to seriousengine daurage.

MAINTENANCE

Muffler

NOTE!

Some lnuJ:flers are l:]tted with a catalytic converter. See"TaWndca!data"to see whether your machine is fitted with a

catalytic converten

'lhe muffler is designed todampen the noise level andto direct the exhaust filmes

away from the user. Theexhaust fumes are hot and

can contain sparks, whichcan result in fire if theexhaust fimles are directed

towards a dr), andinflammable material. Some

mufflers are equipped with a

special spark arrest screen. I[your machine is fitted withthis wpe of screen it should

be cleaned regnlarl> This isdone using a wire brush. Onmufflers without a catalyticconverter _he screen should

be cleaned weekly; orreplaced if necessar> Onmufflers fitted with a

catalytic converter thescreen should be checked

and cleaned monthly. If thescreen is damaged it shouldbe l, placed. If the screen is

frequently blocked, this canbe a sign that the functionof the catalytic converter is

impaired. Contact yourdealer to inspect, the muffler.A blocked screen will cause

the engine to overheatresulting in damagc to the

cylinder and piston. Also seeunder _l,]iah*,'_.,zla:xv'[

NOTE!Never usea machine with a defectivemuffler.

Cooling system

To maintain as low opera-ting temperature as possible

the engine is equipped witha cooling system. The cooling system consistsoff1.An air intake on the

starter unit.

Z Cooling fins on the

flywheel.

3. Cooling fins on the

cylinder

4. Cylinder cover (leads coldair onto the cylinder).

Clean the cooling system using a brush at least once a week, indifficult conditions more often.

A dirty or blocked cooling system leads to the engineoverheating resulting in damage to the cylinder and piston.

Spark plug

The condition of the spark

plug is affected by:

• An incorrect carbnrettor

setting.• An incorrect fuel

mixture (too much or

f:aulty oi!).

• A dirty air tiher.

0,5 mm

deposits on the spark plugelectrode that may result inmalfunction or startingdiilicuhies,

If the machine is low on power, difficult to start or runs

poorly while idling always check the spark plug first.][ the spark plug is dirty, clean it and at the same time check

that the electrode gap is 0,5 ram. Tile spark plug should bechanged after about one month of operation or earlier if

necessary.NOTE! Always use the recommended type of spark plug, Anincorrect spark plug can damage the cylinder/piston.
