Writing and pencil gripMoving through the different stages of pencil grip development is an important part of
early childhood development.
Each stage of holding a pencil is dependent on how steadythe shoulder and arm
musclesare.
So, dont be in a hurry to make your child draw or colour properly. Rather
encourage overall development of their gross and fine motor skills.
As your child develops physically, and takes part in lots of fun gross motor activitiessuch as crawling, climbing and pushing, the shoulder and arm muscles will get
stronger and steadier, and this should help your child's pencil grasp to mature as well.

Using Phonics to support reading
What sound does the word begin with?
Can you sound these letters together?
(eg cat c-a-t = cat) Robot speak!
Remember you cant do this with tricky words like me,
said, go etc.
Are there any parts/chunks of the word you can read?(eg fan-tas-tic)
What sound do these letters together make? (sh igh ph)

Helping your child to read at home
Always warm up the text

and visual cues. NEVER do anything for a child that they can do
themselves.
And simply ENJOY reading together!!!!
