PERTH
Perth is the capital and the largest city of Western Australia.
Perth was founded by the British Captain James Stirling in 1829 as the administrative centre of the Swan River Colony
and it was called “Perth” according to the wishes of the secretary of State for the Colonies Sir George Murray, that
was born in Perth, Scotland.
Perth has a Mediterranean climate.In fact summers are generally
hot and dry.
Winters are mild and sunny, only sometimes cool and wet. For this, Perth is a
sunny city.
Western Australia has big metal ores of coal, that’s why many mining and mineral industries
have their headquarters in Perth.
There is a large refinery in Kwinana,
in south of Perth, with associated
engineering and chemical jobs.
Another important resource for Perth is
tourism, which counts lots of attractions..
The city centre, called ‘’Fremantle’’, is known for its well-preserved architecture.
In Fremantle you can visit the Western Australia Maritime Museum, where you can see the famous yacht “Australia ll” , that won the America’s cup in
1983.
You can go shopping along Murray Street and Hay Street or in Harbour Town (west Perth).
In Perth there is also one of the world’s largest city parks, Kings Park.
Perth Zoo, located in South Perth, has a variety of Australian and exotic animals from around the world, such as orangutans and giraffes.
