Nominations for Milan’s official Design Awards program are now open.

THE DESIGN PRIZE is the only international program in which the world’s creative community itself nominates and selects the TOP 10 winners. The nomination process calls upon a worldwide honorary Scientific Committee of acclaimed architects, artists, curators, critics, designers and important institutional figures.

We simply ask the esteemed cross section of professionals:

Which, in your opinion, were the most remarkable projects (this past year)?

Any work — from either individuals or collectives — is eligible.

Truly interdisciplinary, THE DESIGN PRIZE transcends narrow categories, recognizing excellence in the broadest sense.

Consideration requires no registration or participation fee on behalf of the nominee, so please, feel free to suggest recipients from every field of design, be it architectural, art/design, product design, etc.

The significance and the experience of the nominated works will be discussed in relation to the award categories.

Prize recipients are ultimately determined through a jury deliberation, and will be publicly announced in an awards ceremony inaugurating Milan Design Week.

From the crowd-sourced longlist of several hundreds, a shortlist of 30 nominees will be established, and the jury will render an impartial verdict of the overall 10 winners.

In addition to the professional jury, a public voting online campaign by designboom and trusted international media partners reaches a highly-engaged audience worldwide of more than 4 million design enthusiasts.

From backstage to center stage, THE DESIGN PRIZE's 2017 and 2018 editions were created from the inside out, and were celebrated from within, the first day of Milan Design Week and in high style, bringing together a roster of industry luminaries for a star-studded gala event, housed inside Milan's prestigious Teatro alla Scala.

The Gala event, produced by the milanese PRY Agency, will reunite the jury, nominees, representatives from the Scientific Committee and familiar faces from the world of architecture, design and creativity for a convivial evening celebrating the field of design and the many minds that make it.
