Principal’s Message

Last term Glenfield competed in the Campbelltown Academic Challenge against 27 other primary schools within the district. Our mathematics team comprising A. Ross, A, Luong. E. Mathew and A. Rahman won the event and as such, have been invited as guests of Bryan Doyle to attend a luncheon at Parliament House. This event will take place this Thursday. Last Friday Mr Doyle visited the school to meet the team and to present individual medals. 3 of the winning team members with Mr Doyle and Ms Odefey. Anando was absent.

The Kindergarten Orientation program began today with 58 preschoolers in attendance. This is the largest cohort of kindergarten students in many years. As such, the school has reviewed its enrolment policy. As we are now receiving many “out of area” applications, it was important to ensure that guidelines are made/followed to ensure fairness for all. Yesterday, a copy of the draft was presented to the P&C for review, comment and suggestions. It is a certainty that we will have 13 classes next year with 3 straight Kindergarten classes. With increased student enrolments also comes an additional day for a teacher librarian. We are currently in the process of advertising this position. There will also be another new teacher appointed and the additional classroom will be situated beside 4/5C’s room. Mrs Dunajcik will be moving into a small demountable that will be positioned during the next holiday break. The Swim School Program commenced yesterday with 59 students attending. We thank Miss Batros for organising this important program and to the parents who have registered their children. I am hearing many reports from concerned community members regarding parents disregarding aspects of road safety as they escort children across roads. I urge parents to be vigilant in supervising their children at all times and to ensure that roads are crossed at the appropriate location and time. T. Hagan Principal

OZTAG - SUMMER GALA DAY 2 2014

On Friday 10 October 2014 our oztag sides competed in the second Fields Zone oztag gala day competition. The teams won their fair share of games and improved their results as the day progressed.

Some great tries were scored as well as some great tagging in defence. A big thanks to all the parents who came to sup-port. Mrs T also helped with the scoring on the day.

PSSA Softball – Add results

Last Friday our second summer gala day was held for softball. In extremely warm conditions, both teams tried hard and played well. Results were as follows: Game 1 vs Sarah Redfern Girls Lost 9- 4 Boys Won 19-2 Game 2 vs Guise Girls Won 6-5 Boys Won 18-2 Our next gala day will be held on Friday 24 October (Week 3).

Swimming Scheme

Yesterday the Swimming Scheme started and it will continue with students doing 2 lessons each day this week. If your child is involved in this scheme, please ensure they wear their swimming costume under his/her uniform and remember to bring all the things listed on the reminder note.
