Process Management

§ Modeling§ Optimization

Target group

We would like to invite individuals whowish to improve their managementskills related to the field of processmanagement, in particular:

u medium- and high-level managers

u project managersu quality managers, quality

management representatives (ISO)

u consultants responsible for creatingbusiness processes

We would also like to invite anyindividuals who are involved inimplementing new processes ormonitoring existing ones in theirenterprises.

Benefits

After completing theMODELING workshop theparticipants will be able to:

u Put the learnt concept of processmanagement into practice

u Use the process mapping andmeasuring tools

u Identify processes being part of theoperation of their enterprise

u Evaluate and improve existingprocesses

After completing theOPTIMIZATION workshop theparticipants will be able to:

u Implement and put into practice theDeming PDCA cycle in their businessenvironment

u Improve existing processes in theirorganisations, taking into account theeffectiveness and savings provided by‘process thinking’

u Concentrate on the value of finalproduct or provided service, byreducing and eliminating all factorswhich delay, impede or make thevalue generating process moreexpensive

A four-day workshop; covers themethods, diagnostics and tools foroptimizing and modelling productionand service processes. Objectives:The workshop, which includes asimulation game, aims at improvingthe effectiveness and efficiency ofthe existing business processes. The entire program is divided intotwo distinct parts: MODELING andOPTIMIZATION.Their combination in any sequenceforms a complete workshop coveringall necessary abilities which aKAIZEN LEADER should formallypossess. The workshops will above all enablethe following:u To acquire the ability to properly

define a business processu To master key methods of

process modelingu To conduct process pre-

diagnostics skillfullyu To acquire the ability to create a

system of process measurementu To identify the ‘root causes’

properly in order to improve theprocess (Plan)

u To communicate knowledge andtools in order to create and selectan appropriate decision scenario(Do)

u To acquire the ability to design apilot improvement program(Check)

u To acquire the ability to introducepermanent change to processesin order to attain permanentimprovement (Act)

The entire trainingprovides an added value, namely supplementarytools.Participation in bothworkshops enables toobtain a KAIZENFacilitator certificate.

Modeling workshopDay 1To understand the business processTo align business processes withcompany strategyTo create a process vision1.Introduction to process managementu Process management system

overview (TQM, Kaizen, Kanban,Lean, Six Sigma, DeX, Poka-Yoke,Process Reengineering)

To analyze existing business processesTo map and model business processes2.Business process mappingu Examples and exercises with two

tools: SIPOC – (Supplier, Input,Process, Output, Customer);FLOWCHART

u Practicing in process architecturedesign for the company

To measure business processperformance3.How can the process be measured?u Critical-to-Quality Tree - CTQ tool-

examplesu Six Sigma calculation practice

Day 24.How to check that the new processdesign will work properly?u Business process diagnosticsu KPI template practiceu RTY (Rollout Throughput Yield)

practiceu PDC (Process Diagnostic Clock)

practiceTo understand the change management5.‘Transaction process’ –businessprocess simulation gameu Simulation game referring to one of

the most critical processes in the non-manufacturing sector’s company

During a first round participantsexperience three aspects of the badlymanaged process: MUDA, MURI, MURA.The next round provides the opportunityto generate the process map and tomeasure its effectiveness and efficiencyaccording to the concept of Y = f(x1, x2,x3, … xn).

The third round helps to calculate theCosts of Poor Quality (COPQ). In the finalround the participants apply processimprovement (KAIZEN) and measure itsoptimization output using RolloutThroughput Yield (RTY)

6.Wrap-Upu Simulation game results presentationu Conclusions about the workshopu SixSigma

Optimization workshopDay 1To redesign process using the redesignprinciplesTo prepare the implementation planTo understand the change managementTo indentified process managementissues1.How the PDCA Deming’s cycle works? The concept of efficient management.u Plan (P) – Do (D) – Check (C) – Act (A)u Simulation game 'Transaction

Process'u Round I - Traditional process model2.How to plan (P) and analyze theactivities?u ISHIKAWA diagram (Fishbone

Diagram )Introduction of the tool, simple casestudyu Affinity diagram - introduction of the

tool, simple case studyu Simulation game 'Transaction

Process'Round II - Layout Re-Design

3.How to choose the best scenario andimplement it (D)?u EFFECTIVE-ACHIEVABLE matrixu Nominal Group Technique (NGT)Introduction of the tool, simple casestudyu Simulation game 'Transaction

Process'u Round III - One Piece Flow

Day 2u 4.How to monitor (C) if the objectives

are achieved?u Effectiveness Indexu IMPORTANCE-PERFORMANCE

Analysisu Introduction of the tool, simple case

studyu imulation game 'PERFECTFINANCES'

based upon 5S conceptu Simulation game 'Transaction

Process'u Round IV - Heijunka

Methodology

The classes are conducted in aninteractive form. During the workshopwe use various training methods, wepresent cases, provide individual andgroup exercises, work on scenariosand simulations.

Additionally, during theOPTIMIZATION workshop theparticipants take part in a simulationof a process. While playing asimulation game in groups (KAIZENproject), they observe, in individualmodules, an analysis of variousphenomena for a poorly managedprocess. They measure theeffectiveness and efficiency of theprocess, calculate the costs of poorquality (COPQ) observe theimprovement of early warning. Usingtheir own experience, the participantsstrive to improve the process duringthe simulation, by applying the classictechniques for managing anenterprise, such as the LEANmanagement technique.

We are guided by the motto: Minimumof necessary knowledge – maximum ofpossible abilities.

Thanks to the presence of experiencedindividuals during classes we showhow these solutions are implemented.

5.How to improve the future plans (A)and activities?u PLAN – RESULTS Matrixu Force Field Analysis (Kurt Lewin’s

method)u Introduction of the tool, simple case

study6.Simulation game conclusionsu ’Value Stream Mapping'u KAIZEN radar map
