Current Courses:Resource Sharing 101

The IDS Project Online Learning Institute’s Course, Resource Sharing 101, provides

students with a basic foundation in resource sharing best practices while building a

community of support and connections for future troubleshooting and collaboration.

Future Courses:Mentors in Training

Future courses will include training opportunities for mentors within the IDS

Project as well as our extended community.

Workflow EvaluationFuture courses will include opportunities to

dive into various aspects of resource sharing workflows and tools including

building Addons, ILLiad customizations, Copyright & ILL, marketing your service,

etc.

Course ValueQuestion: “What were the most useful aspects of this course, if any?”

I definitely knew something about ILL before I started this course, not sure that I am above average in ILL knowledge now, but definitely know quite a bit more

than I did when I started.

The readings, the guest speakers, the resources were the most useful aspect of this course.  I very much appreciated Micquel's opening of each week ... set the stage

and expectations for the week's lesson.

Getting first hand accounts of best practices and being able to communicate with experts in the field has been very helpful.

Question: “I would take another live online course from the IDS Project Online Learning

Institute”

100% said Yes!

Online Learning Institute

Page 9: Promoting library excellence through community & technology

The IDS Project Online Mentor Institute will provide new Mentors with: • a basic foundation in the IDS Project history and philosophy;• tools to successfully mentor;• access to Atlas videos; and• practical, experiential, and hands-on learning with Mentors.

Objective: To be fully prepared to guide new libraries through the mentoring process and assist current IDS members in solving problems and locating answers.

Library Partnerships:Member libraries learn about workflows, offices, ideas, changes, and each other through 12 month

partnerships. Each User Group provides the opportunity to share partnership experiences.

All Region Meeting:As a preconference to the Annual IDS Project Conference, the Regional User Groups come

together for workshops and discussions.

Project Partnerships:Regional User Groups are made possible by the IDS

Project’s strategic partners. A big thank you from all the

members!

The good news:• SUNY libraries will be linked though SUNY Consortial Group• Will be freely available to all SUNY libraries• Bill Jones will be handling the CSS and HTML for GDM Online

The bad news:• Programming by outside contractor• Original contractor doubled agreed upon price• Spent time finding a new contractor• Behind schedule but catching up (only backend works so far)

• Front end is a disaster at the moment…

SUNY Innovative Instruction Technology Grant 2013• $11,500 for programming by outside contractor• $6,500 in match and in-kind from IDS and Geneseo
